    Hi,
I'm having problems launching most PSP ISOs/CSOs on my PSP. I have a 2 GB Sony Memory Stick (Made in Japan) that I formatted multiple times, tried all types of ISO drivers (M33, Sony NP9660, OE ISOFS, Normal), so far I tried Crisis Core (ISO and CSO), and God of War(CSO).
Smaller games like Final Fantasy 1 Remake run fine, as well as Tales of Eternia work fine, although I have a problem with Eternia that all save files get corrupted immediately :/

I need help with this urgently!

    Thanks!

Maybe it's a firmware thing? Latest is 4.01m33-2 I think.
    For the Driver, use Sony.
Crisis Core seems better as ISO than CSO.

Well, I'm using the firmware you're talking about, and using the Sony driver.
I bought memstick here in Egypt, in an electronics shop. It's got Made in Japan written on the back, could it be a fake?

Most fakes are MIJ Sony marked. If it's real, your PSP will tell you it supports MagicGate.

Fake or not, it sounds like you have a bad card. I'd try copying the files from the MSPD back to your PC to see if they match the originals.

How can I know if it supports MagicGate? Where does the PSP tell me this?
And I will try the copying thing.
I also tried running blackspeed v2, my PI was 169 or something around it, and the graph looked like it was a bit faster than the Sony 32 MB. Isn't that enough for ISOs, or CSOs?
Can I run a CSO/ISO directly from the PC? This would help in finding the problem.
And lastly, i tried both CSOs and ISOs with the problematic games so far(GoW and Crisis Core, getting more to test). With a CSO, (Sony NP9660 or Normal),the PSP stays on a black screen. With an ISO of the same game, it goes to a black screen then the PSP turns off.
Please help me with this issue as it's driving me nuts!

EDIT: Found out how to check MagicGate, pressing Triangle on Memstick. It says MagicGateTM : Unknown, which probably means fake. It does seem wierd though, it looks like a Sony original card from the outside, with MagicGate written on it. But still, it looks like lots of people with fake cards can run games just fine :/
But I'm getting very suspicious of my stick, as when I play Tales of Eternia, it immediately corrupts any saves I make [IMG]

And things only get worse and worse... :/
The only UMD I have is World Tour Soccer 2, so I tried backing it up, then copying it to the MS to play.
When I go to Games, it says no Games Available :'(

    Go into the recovery settings.
Turn off your PSP completely and hold R-Trigger while you turn it on.

Make sure your firmware is 4.01 M33-2

Change your settings to mine (It goes in order):

    My Configuration List:
    Disabled
    Enabled
    4.XX Kernel
    Disabled
    M33 Driver -NO UMD-
    Disabled
    Disabled
    Memory Stick
    Enabled
    Disabled

    My Advanced Options:
    Both Disabled

By the way i'm running a PSP Phat.

To check for MagicGate, highlight your memory stick in Games (or any category, I believe), press triangle and select information. It should say MagicGate supported.

From your description, it sounds like a bad counterfeit. I would definitely return it if possible.

Mine says MagicGate Unknown, yet it works absolutly fine (except for a tiny bit of slowdown here and there which is almost unnoticable).

Edit: Just went up in the thread a bit, his says the same thing.

Yeah, one of mine is a fake and it works fine.

This one must be different though because the Blackspeed is possibly the worst reported to date. It may also be claiming a false capacity.

How can I check if it is claiming a false capacity? I've formatted it a lot of times, from PSP and from the PC too.

The easiest way would be to copy over enough files to fill the card near capacity, then hash them against the originals. If they don't match, it's either badly defective or a deliberate lie.

Just for the heads up, if you get a good memory stick and some games just go black then it's mostly higher version firmware is required.

I clicked on this thread to say it looks like your firmware is low, which apparently is not, but I'll say it anyway [IMG]

Fake cards qualities vary greatly, some fakes are utter crap and some fakes work good enough for cheaper price.

Ok, I tried copying two Linux ISOs I had, which together were about 1.3 GB.
Then I unplugged the PSP, connected it, and then copied them in another folder on the PC.
I checked the MD5SUMs and compared them, and the ones that were on the PSP were totally different!
But what does this mean exactly? Is this MS not really 2 GB or what?

It's junk. Just return it if you can or throw it away if you can't.

Imagine a whole chicken. Imagine putting the whole thing in your mouth. It's not gonna fit (put it on youtube and let me know if you can fit a whole chicken in your mouth), and it's likely you only have a portion of that chicken in your mouth.
It's still chicken. It's true you have a mouthful of chicken in your mouth. To fit the whole thing, you'd need to find an animal with a bigger mouth.

Think of your memory stick as your mouth, large file as chicken.
