This is bullshit. Don't ever trust those people, they're just lying their way into making you buy something more expensive. They just want sales.

I really doubt they'll stop firmware updates for the Phats. That would be incredibly stupid, since a lot of people still have them.

All PSP games have to be compatible with any model of PSP, otherwise they're subject to losing a lawsuit.

If a game requires a new firmware, the firmware must be available for all three models.

So either
1) No new games will require you to update your firmware ever
2) PSP-1000 will still get firmware updates

Consider the likelyhood of #1.


One liner: Buy the phat if you want, if it doesn't get firmware updates after Christmas you can sue Sony and you'll probably be able to buy a Slim with their compensation.

I dont think it would matter either way if you put custom firmware on it.

Regardless if sony stops making firmware for it, the custom firmware scene will continue, allowing you to play all the game you could ever want. Without even having to pay for them.
