It's NOT Sony levels of ridiculous where all they ever send are ONLY "stability updates". At least Nintendo DOES stuff with their updates.
So what did they add between 9.3 and 10.2?
Oh wow you can haz more then one theme O.o
So yeah between 9.3 and 10.2 only one "real" update all others were: "Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience"

No... You will need ARM9 to generate xorpads as braindump currently doesn't dump update data.

I've actually got another 3DS with gateway, so I suppose I could find out how to dump the contents of file updates

Maybe... But yeah if the creators included the latest update it should work online too unless they disabled it to avoid conflict with the unaltered game.

Too bad my 3DS does not want to run my Pokemon Y right now.

I'll have to check if the ORAS rom hacks work online

Nintendo logic: "Let's patch all those pesky homebrewers from getting to eShop so we can stop getting money from legitimate purchases they want to make. Yeah!!" Makes sense.

And the Vita for the latter half of 2.xx and all of 3.xx so far...?
Nintendo doesn't dedicate anywhere NEAR as much to homebrew patching as Sony does, and neither as quick either.
Ninty: Waits months, realizes it's a thing, passively puts out update loooong time after.
Sony: Finds out exploit, closes down PSN, removes games from store (And even from downloaded lists, which is illegal btw), forces update a day later, no workaround, screws up core system functions just to limit homebrew.

Ehhh... I think they are just more worried about the consequences of letting it go further without moderation. Smea tries, but as with the PSP scene showed, it can turn 180 at a moment's notice when a given pirate is has the chance.
That, and the fact Retroarch BASICALLY kills off the reason for legitimately buying Virtual Console titles soooooooo...

I think HANS might be good the reasons buying legitimate VC's from the eShop dies (not just ported emulators and HB), people are using hans to run injected ROM's through VC titles, so... Buy 1 VC and inject 100 others.

Don't forget Microsoft: Remotely turn machine into a paperweight.

...You're just casually ignoring the giant elephant in the room?
Retroarch?
No?
It already easily blows Ninty's NES, Master System, and Gameboy emulators, as well as even M2's specialized Genesis emulators with GenPlusGX.
The only retro games that can be justified buying now are the M2 Arcade Ports (Space Harrier, Super Hang On, After Burner II, Galaxy Force II, and etc...)

Don't forget Microsoft: Remotely turn machine into a paperweight.

They do that? I thought it was a joke this whole time!

If they see you using flashed drive or jtag, they console ban you, which means you lose access to any legitimate digital games you bought, no online features, and there is some other non-gaming features that get stripped as well. I think I read somewhere that it interferes with disc based games in some way too.

Given Nintendo's absolutely abysmal support of the Virtual Console across multiple systems, I'd argue that it's a bit too late for them to play the sympathy card in regards to homebrew emulators.

Ouch... Well, even less reason to use Xlive then!
And to think I was keeping my 360 JUST to play Sonic '06...

Is it bad now? I mean, to be honest, M2 is probably the only ones really pulling forth an effort to make their ports unique for the 3DS (Widescreen/Fullscreen emulation, extensive mods/options, sound tests and EQs, etc...). I NEVER cared for Ninty's implementation of VC, but it also didn't help I was kinda a Sega guy too so M2's ports were more pleasing to me than Ninty.

Or, just maybe, just MAYBE, Nintendo wants people to buy games since their margins on the console is very poor and having the ability to do anything else with it hurts their bottom line. Of course you can argue and rationalize around this a dozen different ways.

Really though as you said, they are likely terrified that any vulnerability could be turned to something that causes monetary damage to them.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

There is going to be a 24-hours maintenance on eShop on 11-01. That said, it's likely that they're working on some sort of method to patch eShop firmware spoof.

I would like to know which games should I go and get, before I can no longer use eShop.

On a side note, SmashHax can be run from the Demo, right? What if I have the Demo and the original game (digital)? How would I go about using only the demo for SmashHax and keeping the original game hax-free?

ALARMIST ASS HAT!

Sorry I just needed to get that off my chest.

Hmm, I always get the "press :Home Button: to return to the HOME menu, then reboot the console before retrying" message since the maintenance. Everything worked fine before. Am I the only one in this situation?
