Homebrew [PSA] eShop spoof likely to be patched on November 1st

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what happens if you try to play something newer (eg. Triforce Heroes Demo) than the firmware you have? (eg. 9.5)

I have a feeling it would crash or not work, but it'd be nice to know.

I think it should work as nintindo only has firmware check to see if the firmware is below ~9.5(I think that firmware. ~Maybe a bit higher) unless they upped the firmware requirement for it.

Edit apparently nintindo upped the firmware to 9.6

I have a feeling it would crash or not work, but it'd be nice to know. Also just realised they could do something similar to the dummy browser + 9.9 carts on the eShop.

It won't work, 9.6 introduced a new encryption on most eShop content that 9.5 doesn't understand how to decrypt (which is why things have to be "cryptofixed" over on the iso site). Sometimes it also requires firmware spoofing.

It should work with HANS then. But unfortunately all that happens is a red screen.

I can stop if this is derailing the thread by the way. At least we know this problem is over with for now.

HANS can't magically provide 9.5 with the knowledge to decrypt things.

I'm not quite sure how it works, but I assumed that because it has the firmware spoofer that it could help spoof such decryptions. Apparently that isn't the case though.
