Oct 8th 2024: BD-JB + Kernel works on 7.61 thanks to user Hammer.

1: Never enable IDU mode.
If you do you will need to enter staff mode by holding L1 + L2 and tapping this combo: circle, cross, square, triangle, right D-Pad. Release L1 + L2 and you can access settings to exit IDU.

2: Try to stay on the lowest FW possible and wait it out for hacks on that firmware.

3: PS5 FPKGs cannot work as a hack for the a53 processor does not publicly exist to enable PS5 content as FPKG/PKG.

4: Installing legit game PKGs you do not own will not work, even if spoofed.

5: If you get stuck in a boot loop at the PS logo, this means the SNVS is corrupted (if hash check fails on boot this causes a “soft brick”).

It’s not “bricked”, just reinstall your current firmware RECOVERY PUP in safe mode!

Again, this is not how it works.
Being able to install FPKGs and actually running them are two completely different things.

Same thing goes for the SDK, it's for payload development and not a guarantee, that you can run piracy.

As long as the devs don't manage to work around these issues, you can be sure that etaHEN won't be able to support everything on 5.xx and up.

It has nothing to do with them not sharing stuff or whatever.
There simply is nothing to share, as such things need to be developed first.

I had the same setup, but hardly used either so just kept the one with the early firmware that I have (7.00).

Even the hacked PS4 Pro (9.00) I have isn't used for gaming, rather to play the media PPlay app which is really good.

I've got a Pro on 6.72 and also use the pPlay Media Player for my mkv rips. However, I don't think it will handle any of my 4k UHD rips. Will your version play those?
Not sure if I have an old version....or maybe it just doesn't have those codecs yet??

I've never tried it, I always watch 1080p x264/x265 rips, but I'll try next time.

PPlay is an excellent app for sure better than the official on PS4 (does PS5 even have one? I don't remember) as it actually plays most video formats.

It should be works, but remember that this method is not safe 100%...

Seems that with FW above 4 and onwards it can connect to S.Servers and initiate the update of your installed games...

Extra security: if you can, at router level:

- Override your WAN DNS by Nomadic’s DNS for your PS5 device specifically using a tool such as Asuswrt-Merlin‘s DNS Director. It will avoid any gateway level DNS override AND will override any DNS setting on your PS5 (let’s say someone changed them without your consent…) by Nomadic’s. In order to check if doing that works as intended, set nomadic DNS on another device e.g. smartphone and go to URLs that Nomadic is supposed to block (that site can also help to learn more about where your device DNS requests really go from that device: https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ ).
- Also at router level, block DoH, which *could* be used to bypass the above.
