First BD-J + Kernel access exploit provided by Sleirsgoevy (29/9/22)

Note: There are several USERLAND exploits, a couple of KERNEL exploits, and there is now a public HYPERVISOR exploits available for 1.xx-2.70 to complete the full exploit chain (23/10/24).

Recently Flatz confirmed he has developed his own HV exploit (1.xx-4.51 which is kept private) which was chained from a PS4 save game, and has successfully dumped PlayStation Secure Processor (27/07/23).

As of August 4th 2022: We can now install PS4/PS5 PKG games and updates (and by extension FPKGs) however official PKGs cannot be run unless you legitimately owned them previously digitally and have a licence for them on your current console, or if you own the disc (for update pkgs).

As of October 6th PS4 FPKG can be played on 4.03 OFW thanks to Sliersgoevy FPKG enabler!

Payload: https://gbatemp.net/download/4-03-fpkg-enabler-hen.38248/

As of October 21st PS4 FPKG can be played on 4.50 thanks to cheburek3000 porting offsets.

Payload: https://gbatemp.net/download/4-50-fpkg-enabler-hen.38279/

As of October 25th theflow0 fixes BD-J path traversal and native code execution for 7.61
https://x.com/theflow0/status/1717088032031982066?s=46&t=PIYQV4jmWEyCbVfx3Nx26g

As of November 4th ktuff is fixed for 4.51:

Payload: https://gbatemp.net/download/fpkg-enabler-4-51-hen.38306/

Nov 7th PS5 backups loaded via Itemzflow by Lightningmodz and Echostretch. Fully decrypted dumps require system files bundled into them in order to run without crashing with Libhijacker (no hen required), details here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/ps5-exploit-guide.613891/page-109#post-10290677

As of November 30th ps5debug has been released by SiSTR0: https://github.com/GoldHEN/ps5debug
Mirror: https://gbatemp.net/download/ps5debug.38333/

Dec 1st: first PS5 trainer (Dark Souls) is completed ready for the imminent release of REAPER Multi Trainer II by CTN.

Dec 25th: PS5 back up loading via ITEMZFLOW now released: https://pkg-zone.com/details/ITEM00001

As of Jan 2nd 2024 Sleirsgoevy has ported K-Stuff offsets for 3.xx firmwares.

As of Jan 4th 2024 LM had added 3.XX Kstuff to Itemzflow meaning 3.XX-4.51 is now supported for PS4/PS5 backups and dumping.

Oct 8th 2024: BD-JB + Kernel works on 7.61 thanks to user Hammer.
1: Never enable IDU mode.
If you do you will need to enter staff mode by holding L1 + L2 and tapping this combo: circle, cross, square, triangle, right D-Pad. Release L1 + L2 and you can access settings to exit IDU.

2: Try to stay on the lowest FW possible and wait it out for hacks on that firmware.

3: PS5 FPKGs cannot work as a hack for the a53 processor does not publicly exist to enable PS5 content as FPKG/PKG.

4: Installing legit game PKGs you do not own will not work, even if spoofed.

5: If you get stuck in a boot loop at the PS logo, this means the SNVS is corrupted (if hash check fails on boot this causes a “soft brick”).

It’s not “bricked”, just reinstall your current firmware RECOVERY PUP in safe mode!

People who bought 5.xx>7.61 due to FOMO are crying right now on twitter. Never buy something due to FOMO.
I had to lookup what FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) meant as this was the first time I ever heard the term.

I'm not a fan of acronyms especially when you have ones that have various meanings depending on the context like NCIS which most people know as Naval Criminal Investigative Service BUT NCIS can also stand for "National Crop Insurance Services" which ironically I learn from an episode of the NCIS TV Show. LOL

The problem I have with any part of this or any console “scene” is it should be carved into your brain that lower is better.

It’s lucky that Flatz is raising that barrier to HV entry from 2.xx to 4.51, but no one should complain if you updated from 3.xx to 4.51 or even 7.61, you made your own decisions,

I have to admit I was thinking about getting my 3.20 out and updating to 4.51, for PS4 games and ItemzFlow but (luckily) I’m too busy and I have no sense of “FOMO” with the PS5.

Things also take time, months or years even, to get off the ground and released to the general public.

7.61 is touted as the next highest firmware for HEN (piracy), so I could see why most will aim for that FW, but they should have an expectation to wait as long as it takes. It will come eventually.

The amount of DMs I get asking for progress updates is depressing, and my response is always “it would be everywhere if there was something released”.

I’m just ranting now…

@ kiiwiii, didn't even know it was an option to DM you. Good to know 😂

Don't see fomo at all for people who bought 5.xx - 7.61. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a low fw these days. Having HV exploit is nice but I don't care if I have to use a web or bluray hack on later fw.

It wasn't so long ago that people were saying that HV would never happen or years away. Pretending you know what is going on or repeating like a parrot is not interesting to me. I see so much progress being made and believe there is much to be improved and discovered...

I got my first PS5 direct from Sony on Launch Day thanks to their pre-order program for PS+ members. I never really touched the PS5 until the update that added m.2 support. I was also waiting for probably the only PS5 exclusive I wanted to play to come out (Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart). I was on 4.50 when I stopped using my PS5, not because I was waiting for jailbreaking but because I didn't feel like using it and kind of stopped playing game for a while. If it wasn't for me not really playing games anymore I would have been on a much later firmware.

When Horizon Forbidden West came out I managed to get the console bundle from Amazon. Unfortunately this PS5 was on 5.0x but I still never used it so whenever more stuff works on that firmware I may use that for jailbhreaking stuff and backups as that one was never activated or saw PSN.

I do have a third PS5 that is on 9.50 so I could play and sync my Trophies ro PSN.

@AlphaBravo its not just here, other platforms too… its draining 😂

Since PS3 I’ve been all about having one low for hacks and one current OFW for PSN: this is how it should be for anyone even remotely interested in hacking a console before EOL.

At the end of the day we know that up to 7.61 will receive etahen, anything else is a bonus for those below. Most people only want piracy anyway.

I hope HV is going to provide persistence to the hacks, but I honestly don’t know how it’s going to benefit end users.. as long as they get piracy.

Maybe the recommended firmware for HV on Front Page could be updated now: 2.50 for SpecterDev’s and 4.51 for flatz’

Is it worth getting a Slim now? The PS5 doesn't have many games I want to play that won't be on the Switch 2, but I can see myself getting one if it can be homebrewed.

Slims start at 6.xx earliest, if you’re ok waiting for 6.xx-7.61 homebrew you could try get one.

What a world. Console versions of eroge used to hack.
Maybe I should grab a cheap Raspberry Cube while it’s available.

The game listed as "Sen no Kiseki, Princess of the Peach Blossoms" is called "Sen no Hatou, Tsukisome no Kouki". The PC version came out back in 2016 and I was very much looking to it. Unfortunately it was ultimately a letdown. The previous two games by the same devs (Eustia and Daitoshokan) were good, so I was pretty disappointed. (Just some bonus context.)
