Hacking PS3 noob - Just bought a 4.65 PS3. Noticing something weird...

I've just bought a new PS3, and unfortunately, came with 4.65.
However, I know you have to hook up flashers and what-not to downgrade to 3.55, but I decided to see what happened if I took a 4.70 Rebug Update PUP and place it on storage media.
When my PS3 tried to detect the storage media, it found the 4.70 Rebug Update and displayed the license agreement and the update confirmation.

Is this normal? I don't want to run the risk of accepting the installation and bricking.

afaik u can restore after a brick if u put official .PUP file on the usb and boot into safe mode

Well, it just returned "the data is corrupted", so...onto flashing, I guess.

Wait don't do any flashing yet. first make sure your ps3 can be downgraded or else ur efforts will all be in vain.

Yeah, it's downgradable (CECH-K03). If it wasn't right, then I wouldn't have bought it.
