I've just bought a new PS3, and unfortunately, came with 4.65.
However, I know you have to hook up flashers and what-not to downgrade to 3.55, but I decided to see what happened if I took a 4.70 Rebug Update PUP and place it on storage media.
When my PS3 tried to detect the storage media, it found the 4.70 Rebug Update and displayed the license agreement and the update confirmation.

Is this normal? I don't want to run the risk of accepting the installation and bricking.

Well, it just returned "the data is corrupted", so...onto flashing, I guess. :P

Yeah, it's downgradable (CECH-K03). If it wasn't right, then I wouldn't have bought it. :P
