i've already updated it so no more linux for me.
It doesn't bother me much since the PS3 games are the only ones that I actually buy [IMG]

That's a great step forward! I hope this will lead to some kind of exploit, preferably in the XMB itself. That way, even Slim users and people who updated to 3.21 would be able to use it [IMG]

I myself actually hopes this leads to PSone/2 Emulation, Homebrew, and Emulators...I would'nt care much if they cracked it to the point where we could rip Blu-Ray games and play them off the HDD. Good lukc anyway.

Nice! I hope a linux-free software exploit is in the works.

While I am utterly indifferent to geohot I will mention that http://xorloser.com/?p=297 put in some serious work as well and a fair bit of stuff has been released- the tone of that article and some of the statements are not on.

Sounds a lot more beliveable than geohot. Still, we'll have to see what this will lead to.

this may just turn out like the PSP whereby those things tht come with the PSP will be used to hack into the system and tht even very easily (although some ppl may be confused)
i hope we wont need a hardware to hack into the system like the wii (though i think its xtremely difficult)

For the original geohot exploit you did need to mod the hardware. But I wouldn't be surprised if they found some kind of software exploit...

But the Games are still too large in size to Download.

whats so hard about renting games and ripping to the hard drive... its not like you have a limited choice in hard drive size, there's 1tb and 1.5tb 2.5" hard drives floating around now.

Heh. That's what I do with Wii games. I rent them from Blockbuster and rip them to my computer.

Not many people have a Blu-Ray drive, though.

He means like "installing" on a USB loader, i.e. you put the game into the PS3 and a homebrew application copies the whole thing onto the HDD.

Sigh I thought we did the games thing back when the first hack stuff was done- PS3 games are not really any bigger than their 360, PC and some cases wii equivalents and it is not like people are troubled by those.

    http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=9 has sizes (41x200 = 41 multiplied by 200 megs= 8200 megs or about 8 gigs).

Assuming a full signing defeat ripping games and other media become a very real possibility too.

Games like Final Fantasy 13 and (I think) Heavy Rain would probably be quite a challenge for pirates.
