-OVERVIEW-

Hello, this is a very fearful problem for me, as this has just happened very suddenly without warning. As far as I know, this problem has never happened to me before. Now first, I think I should start off with the history of the console itself.

-HISTORY-

I received this console from my uncle in what I think was 2013 or 2012 (it was second hand). This console has been very reliable to me for a launch style console, especially being received at such a long time ago. This console has a very small history of errors, but not very long ago (1 to 2 years ago?) the system YLODed. However this was a miraculous YLOD, as it just happened once and when I restarted it, it worked without a problem. The system does have it's occasional freezes, but this was just random in itself.

-THE PROBLEM-

This issue started yesterday while I was playing MOH Warfighter, as I played it online. I connected it to my hotspot (it was previously connected to my router and it wasn't working at the time) and started playing. It worked fine, but out of nowhere during the match, the screen went black and it faded to the red light blinking, and the fatal 3 beeps. This happened for no reason whatsoever. No history of this type of problem, no overheating notification, nothing. This doesn't seem to happen in any other game although I've only tested one other game, and for only 5 minutes. I've tested the same game online, and it seems to vary in times. It could happen within 10 minutes. It could happen within 3 hours. The system does not seem to be overheating, the fans are at very slow speeds, the vents are dust free, the HDD seems fine, and it just seems weird for a reliable system. This may be a game issue in itself.

-TL;DR-

My PS3 is not working correctly, it just shut off abruptly during a game with the blinking red lights and 3 beeps. It doesn't seem to have any problems whatsoever. The system has been a very reliable system. It happens during online play, and it was on a different router than the one I normally use.

-CONSOLE-

FAT PS3 60GB CECHK01, August 2008

-UPDATE- (happened on Fri, July 20)

After reconnecting the console to my original router and then playing, no change was made. This just happened about 15 seconds into gameplay this time, which is a little scary. I also do not have equipment for opening up and properly cleaning and restoring a PS3 to working order. So reapplying thermal paste and replacing a bad CPU/GPU is out of the quesrion.

Blinking red is generally linked to hardware problems (like the power supply not being able to keep up - try quickly flicking the switch on the back off then on while the console is running, instant blinking red light)

The "tools to open a PS3" are a dotted-torx screwdriver and two phillips screwdrivers (add an oil painting spatula of the appropriate shape if you want to remove the IHS - but I agree it's probably not the issue here), nothing you can't afford if you have a Five Hundred and Ninety-Nine U.S. Dollar console ;)

Alright, good to know. Anything else a blinking red light could be linked to? I just thought it was strange since this happened out of nowhere, and during online play of all things. I've actually been playing my PS3 on other games and this seems to not happen on those games, however just 15 seconds into a match on MOH Warfighter and the console just kills itself.
