    Great news huh? =)

If you guys ask "Why is this news? We knew that already" That's because the guy who said it first (a guy from Sony Europe), he wasn't sure it was region free.

Now let's ask if they upped the security so that it doesn't bite the dust when we just nudge it. [IMG]

    Let's see:

-It's not manageable on PC like it was with PSP, at least not like a generic usb device. It has an app integrated in Vita and to be instaled on the PC, like iTunes.
-Battery not removable - no pandora for u.

I'm sure they will not make the same mistakes this time. Of course, it'll be hacked someday, just not so early.

the 3ds is probably hacked in around how many? less than an year? and it was said to be amazing in its security

unless they come up with xbx360 security, a hardware will be done in less than an year due to the fame that it most surely will get

but for legit users, region free is probably the best thing and for pirates, its still a good thing (one less thing to hack)

I think sony knows that it's a selling point and gives their system less reason to get broken into :3

    Anywhere you think of me.
The PSV seems to be winning no matter how you look at it...

I really hope it holds up when it's actually released...

thats one of the better pieces of news for the PSV....i really dont get why any system has region lock, it seems like a pure pain in the ass for the sake of being a pain in the ass.

inb4 obligatory "nintendo should take note" comments

I wouldn't expect anything less though. The PSP & Ps3 were region free, so I didn't think they'd all of a sudden worry about people importing their games.

Most likely to prevent people from importing games, since the rating varies per region (CERO, ESRB, PEGI, etc).

Not that shocking (although it's great) that it's region free since all other Sony portables and even the PS3 is region free.

Doesn't really affect me much though. Importing games are hell expensive here.

    Unless... [IMG]

    Nintendo lol.

This is just another plus for PSV. Looks like we'll be seeing some people immediately import it from Japan.

even that seems like such an arbitrary reason to do it. It seems like it would do just as much harm as good.

It's nice to see companies finally learning. This is some pretty good news.

Now if only all DVD manufacturers would follow suit so I could watch the Garth Merenghi's Darkplace DVD here. That show deserves a place on my shelf, damn it!

I see what u did thar' arrrr!!! [IMG] To be honest I can't really be bothered about region-locking unless Europe gets an exclusive game.I practically gave up about Japanese games since playing without understanding a damn thing takes away the fun, all I can understand is basic Japanese(the ones they use when they talk to each other). Still I'm learning the language though so region-locking may become handy someday.

buy a cheap dvd rom drive for your pc and set the drive to the region the dvd is on, you can change the region code on the drive but only 5 times then its locked out forever
