PS Vita 1000: all games have no sound but the background music plays in the system menu

I have a PS Vita 1000 that has no sound for games or button clicks but does play the background music in the home screen. I've tried both the 3.5mm jack and bluetooth headphones and the problem stays the same. I've verified that sound is turned all the way up. What in the world could cause that? Has anyone seen something like this? Thanks!

Edit: PSP games in Adrenaline and the Adrenaline menu both have sound, but PSX games do not. Movies in Vita Media Player have sound but still no sound from vita games or menu.
