Our team is grateful for all of the support we have been given.

We've gotten dozens of new members onto our team, and we have decided it is time to close the gate for editors/proofreaders.
We will no longer be accepting applications for this role, but we are still accepting translators and other roles as well.

If you have sent an email to apply as an editor/proofreader before June 4th, you will still be processed. After that date however, your application will be ignored.

Thanks everyone, once again! Especially to those that are on our team, you guys are making this a reality.

Another thank you to those who helped spread the word. Please continue doing so! It really does have a big impact.

I have wanted this game since I saw it on nintendo news sites some time ago. I always thought it would get an official translation but then it never appeared in the news again. I saw on the wiki today that it wasn't getting localized/translated for an official western release and then I found you guys.

Just wanted to say thanks for making a dream come true! Good luck on the project.

Thanks for the support, iZerox! It'll take a long time, but we'll do our best to have it out as soon as possible for everyone.

Soon™ xD

Everyone should get it if they saw the riot in the Wii U forums a couple months ago. xD

When I said soon, I didn't mean it'd be out soon, just that we'll try to get it out as soon as we can. :P

We'll consider extra details at a later date, but as of now our focus is just to make the game playable by people who only know English.

I don't want to press, because I already played the first case with a video-text guide, but when is the first case to be released?

I mean, how much time do you think, that is going to take to release the first case, I know that is long and I enjoyed it a lot, it would be awesome to play it again with the patch. Anyway, good luck!

We are working very hard, but you would be surprised how long it takes just to do one little section of the game. I don't think there's any set release date but I'm sure you guys will know as soon as we are ready to release anything.

As AceAttorney524 said, it takes upwards of an hour just to do one little section. We are not in a state to release any information at the time, but please stay tuned for further updates!

Alright. I'm all saying is I don't feel comfortable with someone who doesn't understand the point of a fan translation, and wanted to insert his own music into the original fan translation project, being on a fan translation team.
Please stop coming to this thread with that attitude. There are some points about localization in AA3 you made that I appreciated and pondered over as well while playing just a month ago, but your overall tone and your constant insulting of other people in the thread completely undermines any good will I could've had for you. I come to this thread expecting to hear how progress on the game is coming and instead I see dust getting kicked up on old issues. The team has already stated that they will stick as close to the original as possible and they likely value AceAttorney524 as a team member for their previous experience with a fan translation. Sure, this person may have had a questionable idea at one time in the past but I'm sure it will not influence this current project because the team seems to have a clear goal as to how they wish to translate this game. Considering they're not getting paid for working on this, it is clear that they are doing this out of a passion to bring a game that would otherwise be unplayable to many to a wider audience. Please have faith in the team that have decided to put their time and effort into this project.

tl;dr: If you have nothing nice to say, it's better to say nothing at all. I want to see the game's progress in translation, not trolling.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
Karma177 @ Karma177: @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really...
