Can anyone recommend what material I should use for this repair? Such as the wire, the solder and maybe other that could help?
I tried to solder to the tiny dot but it wouldn't stick to it
Just as a reference, mine is only missing the light green one from this picture :(
Thank you in advance :)!

you have the same broken pin as mine.
i just used what you see in the spoiler post #12 in 1st page , some amateur/basic materials and a fat wire ( not recomended ) , use tiny wires to solder those tiny points, and have patience.

you are lucky ,the green light pin match the far bottom point , so you have more chance to not touch other points , good luck.

no use simply wires for soldering .
there is a heat cover ( metal )
look here :
you can cut this part with cisors to make it easy for soldering

LOL I totally got it wrong.

But, I thought about putting the wire on the outside. That way I can still remove the microsd connector without breaking the metal cover. For example tweetee had like this:

-if you manage to solder it like this your a winner ;)
-for the metal cover ,just jut it with cisor and put the wires under the cut.

I am losing my mind.

I have tested every point on the board (including GND) and nothing works. I don't know if this is an efficient way to test anything, but I just held the wire in place, touching both points that I was currently testing, and then pushed the power button to try and read the SD card (while running hekate).

Here is a picture of my missing pin.

Using the diagram, wouldn't this be a GND connection? What exactly do I have to solder to get my Switch to read SD cards again?

I apologize if it appears that I am running in circles.

yes this is the ground.

take a look at #19 post in 1st page tweetee was missing 3 pins ,ground included , but he just soldered two of them ,and let the ground one solderless.

have you verified other pins ? are they keeping contact with the motherboard ? ( a pin can seat in his place but loosing contact with the motherboard).

verify also the pins on the mSD card reader.

i guess we need some advice/expertise from @mattytrog here.

Ah, I see. I shall take a look again and maybe lightly wiggle the pins around and give it another shot. I'll also try again with the spare sd reader I bought.

mattytrog advice to keep the ground wire as short as possible when soldering it.

Well remember, the newer diagram says that the GND is connected to the top-left corner (for whatever reason). I'll try the green one again though, because I have almost no other options.

If you're right and the green one is, in fact, involved in the GND situation, then at least I'll have a good reason for trying it again.

@LittlestCube try with your solution (top left gnd) , to have more space to solder.

@cracker the grounds where the usb is, are too far , and mattytrog advice to keep the GRD as short possible.
but there are some similar points under the mSD reader in the motherboard , are they GRD ? IDK !

the updated shema post above yours ,is the way to go imo.

Great news! I'm now missing four pins. :wtf:

IMG_1383.jpg

This just goes to show: if any of you EVER buy a spare Switch SD card reader, it better be TOP QUALITY, otherwise every flippin' time you put it in your Switch, you'll lose another five pins.

I am, however, willing to bet that this means those are the pins that were loose, and so perhaps if I wire those two, everything will work out (the other two that are missing are just GND).

If this doesn't work, I'm chopping off the tape on the spare reader and wiring everything, fml. It's too dangerous to use normally anyway.

It's almost as if Nintendo didn't want us in there! :P But seriously, that connector is horrible. You could probably salvage tons of tablets with this problem. I was fortunate with mine where the reader was the side mine failed on and it just left a pin from it in the slot bridging the last 2 pins on the bottom.
