I've got some Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R media and it seems to work just fine burned at 4X for Wii games. No coasters, no lock-ups. But when it comes to GC games I can't seem to get a solid result. I would have expected the same settings to work fine for GC game, but it's not working. I tried burning MK
D at 4X on the exact same media and the game loads, but locks just a few seconds into the race.
So I tried burning at 1X (with IMGBurn) and the result was better, but the game still randomly freezes. I was able to play all the way through the Mushroom cup, but the game froze during the award ceremony. I loaded it again and tried the Flower Cup and it locked during the 3rd race. This is still too often.
So what media and burning speeds have worked for you guys? I've got an NEC burner and TY media... both normally solid performers and what I've used with near perfect results for Wii games and other consoles. I'm stumped on what could be the issue with GC games.
