I was reading TheVerge article on the steam deck's packaging and look at it in all its ECO-friendly/ Minimalistic Glory!

I am very happy that Valve deceived to include a real power Supply and Case for everyone. Thats means I don't have to buy 10 different size case to see what fits perfectly.
But there something else that surprised me.
"company also says it has completed its design validation manufacturing build of the Steam Deck and that there will be “additional minor changes in the final product.”
This might be the real reason for the delay. Think about it, Last minute design change to correct an issue would be the reason for the additional last minute delay. It was easier to blame the Transit Shortage then admit the product was buggy.
Either way, The time is approaching quickly and I am salivating!

Heh... When valve said their profits on the product were thin, they certainly weren't kidding. :P

Gabe : so... Since the selling price of the product is known and we know all the costs of the parts and manufacturing of everything, just what is the profit we're making on each item?
Research : erm... -1.36 bucks, sir. Not much, but we'll make up for it in steam sales.
Gabe : wait... Some countries have laws against selling at a loss. Is there anything else we an save upon without it affecting our product?
Research :... Erm... Lemme get back at you.

*a week later *
Research : good news : I've managed to fulfill your impossible demand.
Gabe : sweet!
Research :... But we'll have to settle on a lower quality packaging
Gabe: well... So be it.

In all seriousness : as long as it arrives in one piece, I don't care about the packaging.

Now I'm interested in knowing the demographics of Steam Deck buyers. It seems like iPhone users would shy away from Linux devices, but on the other hand it sort of makes sense with the SteamOS ecosystem.
Lol 😂 I’m a iPhone user religiously since iPhone 4…. But I don’t think I count..

...Or, the chip shortage is more-or-less a hoarding strategy. https://www.electronicsweekly.com/blogs/mannerisms/markets/us-acts-chip-hoarding-2021-10/
