I have never owned a 360 before this and was planning on buying one soon.
Since there are so many differnt makes and models and hell differnt dvd drives it seems a fair bit more complex than most other hacking projects.
Are there any places online where I can buy premodded 360s I could care less if they are live compatable I dont plan on ever using it.

If you don't plan on using XBLive then get a RGH 360 (preferably a Jasper, Kronos or Trinity model)

You can find them on ebay or craigslist.

It costs a bit more but you can execute unsigned code and run games off off the internal HDD, thus saving the DVD Drive and saving on DL DVD's.

I have no idea what online modshops exist in Canada but you might go take a look for pre-hacked packages.

Is it hard to do this exploit?
Can it be done on any Xbox/dvd drive...I work on computers so if it involves opening up the 360 I dont mind

Hmm it would seem there are no Candian mod sites with the balls to sell modded consoles. perhaps I'll look into buy a older 360 and flashing it :/

If you have a Phat console (original Xbox 360) with a dashboard version of 14699 or LOWER then it can be achieved with some carefully soldering and a home made LPT flasher.

If you have a Slim console (ONLY Trinity models 115w powerbricks) with a dashboard of 14699 or lower (14717 is in the making) then it can also be done just like the Phats but they require an extra wire.

Both require a Coolrunner or similar modchip to do the glitching.
Note that the solderpoints are REALLY TINY!

DVD hacking is really easy (depending on your drive, you will need a probe3 to extract the keys)
Just hook it up to your computers Sata port (if you have a compatible chipset, otherwise buy a VIA PCI Sata card or a X360 USB) and use your 360 as power source (since you won't join Live, the NO DVD flag doesn't really matter)
And follow the Jungleflasher guide on how to dump keys and write the firmware.

You can download Jungleflasher from the JF website, it should come with a PDF manual.

Trinity is a 135W power brick, not 115W. Best to check console sticker anyway, some corona have come with 135W, 10.83A supplies (guess they were just using up what they have left), 9.6A on console sticker =corona, 10.83A=trinity.

does the probe3 require soldering of any kind?

    Thats good.

But you will need to know your drive version at first.
(If you have a updated Phat 360 with a Liteon drive it has 02510c as it's FW revision but you still need to treat it as its original FW revision)

Nope Probe3 doesn't require soldering stuff to the drive.
You can make a PMT probe with a capacitor tho but it's far easier to just get a Probe3.

I'll have to buy VIA PCI Sata card for my computer so I cant do anything untill then anyways.

If I am buying online is there any specific model of 360 I should look for?

Get any Jasper or Kronos model.
Those have the easiest flashable DVD Drives and the consoles themselves are also nearly RRoD proof.

Slims have locked DVD drives which require either a Kamikaze hack (drilling into the chipset to send a unlock signal) or a Sputnik hack (a QSB PCB)

They aren't indeed for sale at a gamestore anymore.

You'll have to look at the power brick.
    It should say 150w.

Then you got a guaranteed Jasper.
Kronos boards are a later revision with builddates of ~mid 2009 and came right before the Slims.
