I'm sure that some of you are probably wondering what I think about this game, not that it has been released. The fastest way to sum things up is to simply copy/paste my Reddit post

Here are my two cents. I don't just type this as a gamer but also as a Power Rangers fan that has been watching the show for nearly 26 years. I'm not one of those people that got too cool for Power Rangers and then ducked out after season 3. This game is a bit too hardcore for its own good. It's a perfect example of when developers say "easy to learn but hard to master" yet dont quite get what that means. This game is obviously trying to cater to the tournament scene but not everyone is a tournament level fighter.

I appreciate the level of work that went into the gameplay. The system is fairly solid. The difficulty level however could use a lot of tweaking. First off, there needs to be an option that allows you to change the difficulty of arcade mode. The last two chapters are just brutal. Secondly, there needs to be better match making. It might be late for season one but by the time season two arrives, there should be not one but two ranked modes. One for intermediate players and one for hardcore players. Casual mode can stay for people who just dont care about rankings. Match making should probably be based on a combination of player level and time played. I faced a few level 0 people that were fighting like pros that had the game for months.

That last sentence leads to this next thought. NWay needs to learn a lesson from the Gears of War team. Do NOT let noobs get their asses handed to them at the start!!! Seems silly but you need to encourage players to stick with the game, get better and maybe make an emotional investment that turns into the DLC buying type of investment. This all goes back to better match making. Someone at "Level 0" should not be playing like a tournament level Street Fighter gamer. At least that's is what someone would think. I'm emotionally invested because I'm a Power Rangers fan. There are plenty of people that forgot that Power Rangers existed. Those are the people you need to bring in.

I dont have much to say about the controls. Its standard fighting game stuff but I do enjoy the mappable buttons. Graphically, its decent when you consider what was accomplished in just over 800 MB. That said, I would love to see a lot more improvements and more stages that take place in familiar locations from the TV show. On another production note, the audio leaves a LOT to be desired. The game sports the bare minimum. None of the Rangers sound as they should. Hell, Magna Defender's gun doesnt even make the sound it has on the show. While the menu music is serviceable at best, more familiar music from the show would be nice, even if its just instrumentals.

Overall, for the price, the game is worth it. Just know that if you're not a hardcore player, there is a rough curve for you to master. I hope this game finds a lot of success. That said, this is the second Switch game I've purchased on the promise from the developer that it will get better (Gear Club Unlimited 2, where is my online multiplayer mode?!) -I hope this trend doesnt become the new normal of Switch gaming.

TLDR: The game shows a lot of promise with a solid control setup and a few modes. At this point, if you buy the game you're buying it on faith in the developer's promise to improve the game over time.

So... we have a new Power Rangers game for the Switch announced today!

I have no words because I am freaking excited!!!! Sure, this game is most likely built on top of the Legacy Wars engine but I don't care! WOOOOOOO!

F**K YEAH!!!!

Between Kamen Rider Climax Scramble (released last year but I still gotta get it), Dead or Alive Xtreme: Scarlet, Yoshi's Crafted World and this new Power Ranger's game. The Switch is really trying to take all of my gaming love this year and we're still nowhere near June!

So this game is for adults?

No, it's power rangers, not a porn parody :creep:

Also it says T for Teens by Esrb. :P

Also I always thought power rangers was for kids. :ninja:

Honestly I think it's for competitive fighting game players. I'm worried this would be a esports thing with prize money and such.

How is it relying on Nostalgia any more than say DB Fighterz?
Dbz fighterz is a great and solid game, even if you're not a fan of the dragon ball series gameplaywise the game can still stand on its own. Can't say the same thing applies to power rangers battle for the grid.

I would hope that the game relies on nostalgia but there are several issues with that theory.

1) nWay couldn't even be bothered to find voice actors that sound similar to the Rangers in the game.

2) The music is generic at best. Sure, you can hear the obligatory "Go Go Power Rangers" but at this point I'd settle for instrumentals of every theme plus the Ron Wasserman fight tracks.

3) The stages also come off as generic. The Command Center and Lord Drakkon's palace are easily recognized but The Harwood County stage (unless you look at the sky filled with armada ships) felt like a generic wreckage fight. Also, I never saw a dragon head next to a rainbow in the Mystic Forest.

I hope to see a lot more Rangers in this game but I also worry that nWay is gonna get a "mobile" on our asses and charge per Ranger.

so this game only has 9 fighters ... seriously a 2019 fighting game with 9 playable characters and boring arenas...
