Hacking Possible to upgrade sysNAND from backup on restored 3DS?

I had downgraded my 3DS and formatted my 3DS (with SD card out), to seperate emuNAND and sysNAND. Now I'm trying to restore from my 9.2 NAND backup, and, after it finishes, it shows I'm still on 4.2.

Anyone know why?

you probably never made a backup of your nand 9.2

I did. The GW exploit requires that you have backed up your NAND before downgrading.

Yes.

I do that, it does the upgrade from my NAND backup, I reboot back to HomeMenu, I'm on 4.2.0-9U still.

That is weird, never had that happen before. Excuse me while I try to replicate your issue on my 3DS. I'll let you know my findings.

You can upgrade to 8.1.0 with Super Smash Bros. (or a ROM if you have a Gateway. Hold up when booting into Gateway Mode, and make sure the SD card that's inside doesn't have an EmuNAND)

No. This just applies to upgrading with a ROM. If you try to upgrade with a ROM and you have an EmuNAND partition, it will just upgrade EmuNAND.

My guess is that you overwrote your NAND backup of 9.2. When you downgrade, it forces you to make a NAND backup, which would overwrite your existing backup if you didn't copy it off the SD card.
