Homebrew Possible to remap DS Lite buttons for GBA games?

Just wondering if it's possible to reassign or remap the DS Lite buttons when playing GBA games. For example, is this or could this be coded into an application like GBA Exploader or this a hardware issue that cannot be changed? I just hate using B and A and would like to remap the input to Y and B.

It's a hardware limitation that cannot be changed in software, unfortunately. With a hardware modification, you might be able to pull it off, but you'd have to be careful to make sure that the buttons still work as intended in DS mode as well.
