Gaming Possible to do Pokemon trades on DS/Get a Kingdra in HeartGold?

I'm playing HeartGold, and I want to get a Kingdra. But I have to do a trade in order to get it evolved....

Here are the problems:
1) Nintendo stopped their DS online services about a year ago, so that means I can't trade with anybody at all?
2) Is it still possible, but I just need a Nintendo 3DS?

I have a Nintendo DSi and I play HeartGold from my R4i flash cart. I tried to find some cheats that could just evolve my Seadra to a Kingdra, but there was nothing.

You could try using Save Nintendo Wi-Fi but last time I checked, it didn't work at all. A quick Google search should help you find it.

This is pretty cool, but it doesn't look like they support some Pokemon games. But they do have Mario Kart, so I might use that in the future.

I tried Save Nintendo Wi-Fi and it works for use in the Union Room but I was alone and I wasn't able fully to test it out and I still haven't tested it out with the GTS yet.
