Okay, So i turned on my 3DS, started nintendogs+cats, and went to pedometer. I then closed my 3DS and placed it on my OFF CLOSED DS Lite. The 3DS screen turns back on as well as the music, as it thinks it is open. Why does this happen? I'm not concerned or worried, I actually think it is cool.

Wow. It's sad that this great community is filled with dicks. jrk190 was simply asking a question. I'll apologize for him for not knowing everything.

I tend to agree, but you can't very well give a thread a breathless title like this one and, when it turns out that it's noted in the manual, to not expect some sort of blowback

3/10 people read the manual for a console. You shouldn't mocking this guy because he didn't read the fucking manual. You should mocking him because he doesn't understand science.

Well dear sirs, I never asked for criticism. I actually though that was the case, but I wanted somebody to affirm it. I don't spend my time reading 3DS Manuals to look for that exact case. Trolling. Thank you though, for clearing that up. Can it in any way harm my hardware?

Sorry, but that post was flame bait that was almost impossible to resist.

When you close your DS/DSlite/DSi/DSiXL/3DS the speaker magnet in the upper half coming w/in range of the bottom half activates a switch that tells the software running on it to go into sleep mode. You could put a magnet on the ABXY buttons and watch your (3)DS(lite, i, iXL) go to sleep. Putting a magnet under any DS device and closing it will interfere w/ that switch. In this case the speaker magnet of your DSlite caused the 3DS to stay out of sleep mode.

Thanks KidIce for the detailed information on how the (3)DS detects the closed lid.

I'll close this topic now to prevent more flaming.
