I sometimes feel that quotation marks are rarely used based on it's context.
For instance... takes this chat between two fictional characters:
1- Do you think I'm a funny guy?
2- (thinks...) Yes, you're very... "funny"
In this case, number 2 implies that
funny doesn't necessarily means
funny.
But number 1 doesn't know the context of the
quote on quote gesture. So he lives a normal life, whilst number 2 has implied that given the circumstance, number 1 is unaware of the context.
So, my freind Alexander...
"strange" feels out of context.
