Hundreds of people waged a street protest in Warsaw on Tuesday to protest the government's plan to sign an international copyright treaty, while several popular websites also shut down for an hour over the issue.
Poland's support for the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA, has sparked days of protest, including attacks on government sites, by groups who fear it could lead to online censorship.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk insisted Tuesday that his government will not give in to the protesters. He vowed that Poland will sign the international agreement, which is aimed at protecting intellectual property — like music and books — and products including pharmaceuticals and designer items. ACTA enjoys widespread support from the producers of music, movies and a range of goods enjoying copyright protections.

The Polish government is so inapt when it comes to legislature connected to the Internet that I have doubts whether or not it would even affect me if they DID sign the act. They have trouble locking/sueing websites which blatantly advertise themselves as pirate domains, lol.

Moreover, Tusk is a brown-nosing dumbass who usually has no idea what he's talking about. His campaign was very much similar to that of Barack's - "I'mma gonna bring change!" and no change was brought. This just "won't fly" in Poland - the government is way too overcrowded and way too divided againts itself to pass the most simple laws, let alone ones that affect the entire Internet.

So far as I've read the ACTA, it seems like by signing it, your country agrees to write a law that enforces copyright to a minimum standard put forth by the WTO.
This basically means that as long as a country has its signature on the ACTA, more and more laws like SOPA will be written to comply.

Maybe I misunderstood but ALL countries have to sign as its a treaty giving the European Parliament the power to enact or null the bill entirely.
