Pokemon Yellow is glitched up

Hey.
I found my old copy of Pokemon Yellow today and I tried to play it and its really glitched up. Most of the time it wont start or it flashes random colours. Is there a way to fix it? I dont know why it does that. I remember playing through it last year and everything was fine.
Also my character stops following Oak after I enter his Lab.

Clean the contacts of the cart, that should fix most of the issues.
If it doesn't fix it then your ROM might be suffering from bit rot.

I already cleaned it a bit. It might be too old. Well good thing the gen 1 Pokemon games are cheap like dirt over here. I seriously had 6 copys of Pokemon blue a couple years ago. I'll search for a new one on the next fleamarket

Did it get water damage or something?

I had a Silver cart that had similar issues.

Just to rule out the possibility of the console itself being bad, do those other games you have in the picture work fine?

The one I have is normally playable but the game cannot be saved... so I don't know...

the one you got, it's battery is dry.

thx for info! and yeah I know it is another issue...

But I have A pkemon Silver version Sometimes it gets saved ONCE but when you Select continue Its gonna lose data after you shut down the gb/gba

get a new battery and you will be able to save again.
you can also put a holder for smaller batteries and making the proccess of changing them later easier (and smaller batteries are cheaper)

I dont think its damaged. It was inside my closet the whole time.

Yep all of them work fine. I tried it on my Gameboy classic, pocket and colour too all of them had the same problem.
Some months ago i could play it to the first gym, but most of the time my save dissapeared and I just stopped playing it, but since then I cant progress at all.

Sounds like your save RAM battery is dead, in addition to whatever is going on with the cart itself.

Missingno raped my game lel.
Yeah most of my old games have battery problems. The Pokemon Sapphire and my Wario Land both need a new battery. My Pokemon TGC game needs a new one too as far as I know, because most of the time the save dissapears.
