Really? Now that surprises me. The new Donkey Kong game is ~4GB (which is surprising itself), and I would expect Pokemon to be bigger.X and Y Game file size has be revealed to be 1.7GB.
Serebii confirms this.

I guess that makes sense, kinda. I checked the ROM list, and there are 3 4GB ROMs so far. One is Donkey Kong, the other is MGS: Snaker Eater (a port), and Resident Evil: Revelations. RE:R was released as a 3DS exclusive at the time, but I'd expect it to be fairly large, considering graphics and whatnot.Thats probably because it is a port of a wii game.
It has been announced that the games Pokémon X & Y will both be distributed via a special download card in various retail stores across Japan in addition to the standard release as both cartridges and directly on the eShop. This follows on from various previous games on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. However, these download cards have confirmed how much space is required on the SD card in order to play it. You need to have at least 1.7GB, approximately 14,000 blocks, of space on your SD card to download the game. It's also confirmed that you'll be unable to have two games communicate on the same system should both be downloaded Edit @ 16:00: In addition to this, the full box art for the Xerneas & Yveltal Blue 3DS LLs has been released. This 3DS LL comes in two varieties, both with a game pre-installed, but allowing you to be sure which one you purchase.
i hope this game has voice action on the cutscenes....

Oh, I didn't know that. That's good to know. Maybe we'll be able to trim the excess files...Actually no.
Country Returns is 17693 blocks and the cart is 32Gbit which is 4GB.
The game is 2.2 GB and the other 1.8 GB are junk files.
And Pokemon is gonna be the same, 32Gbit cartridge while the game partition is 1.7GB.
I don't see the point in it. I'd rather put the money towards Gateway, since there's a very slim chance it will work with Pokemon. And I doubt we get a cheaper and/or better flashcard by the time Pokemon releases.I'll go with Pokemon Y blue or gold 3DS edition and buy a physical copy of Pokemon X.
Is anyone else doing the same? Buying one physical and digital copy.
I prefer the letter X but the legendary Yveltal, too. I'm just gonna get Y, because I imagine less people getting it, which means more chances for exclusive trades.Still not sure if I should get X or Y... On one hand I prefer the letter X over Y, on the other hand I prefer Yveltal over Xerneas (although I don't really use legendary Pokemon)... The exclusive Pokemon for each version aren't really helping with my decision either, I guess I'll just wait until more exclusives get shown.

If they designed the game so that people needed to buy two copies each in order for it to be good, then it's not good.Supporting the 3DS and its developers, who are the ones making the games and consoles you enjoy so much?
I don't know, just a thought.
You don't need to buy two copies for it to be good, you just need a friend with the other version. However they're shifting this to the online trading and battling stuff so you can just get the Pokés you miss off the GTS.If they designed the game so that people needed to buy two copies each in order for it to be good, then it's not good.
If you actually read what I said, you'd know that I plan on buying both Gateway and Pokemon Y. I meant I'd rather spend the money designated for my second copy of Pokemon towards Gateway.
Also, I don't really enjoy Pokemon so much. I would pirate it if I could. I keep coming back every generation, and thinking "This time, it'll be different!" but it never is. But this time, it'll be different!
