^ that plus if saves data is limited if we had more saves which would mean less data for the game to use. e.g. the number of boxes which we store pokemon in will be less

"The first Pokémon Game Show, which will be an exhibition-show style event, will be available to the public for free and is being held at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. The event will be held on Aug. 17 and 18, 2013.
This exhibition show will be the first event to feature demos of Pokémon X and Y. The event is open to the public and free admission on a first come first serve basis.
The show will also have areas set up for players wanting to play the trading card game as well as Pokémon Tretta, an arcade-style game using special tiles called Trettas."
Oh my God I need this demo!

yeah only thats not the reason at all. they could put in 40 save states if they really wanted to. but they dont. they make more money this way.
The Pokemon save files already take up more space than most DS games. If they want to include multiple save files they would have to upgrade the save storage in the game cart, which costs them monies. This would be easily possible if save data were stored on the SD card though, but that probably won't happen because it would be somewhat odd for a handheld.yeah only thats not the reason at all. they could put in 40 save states if they really wanted to. but they dont. they make more money this way.
Oh, never mind. I thought it was 1MB for some reason. Google proved me wrong.Gen-IV and V saves are 512KB. That's half a megabyte.
It says nothing of normal online battles, though, which is unfortunate. If only they did the same thing there. The Pokémon Company has recently issued a statement on the matter - helpfully translated on NeoGAF - deterring hackers by saying these illicit methods can harm the saved game on the cartridge and should anyone be found using what it calls an "illegal Pokémon" at a tournament they will automatically be disqualified and will not be able to compete in any future events.
It's a step though, maybe in the gen after this they'll enforce it for normal online.Since I didn't see this here: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/06/the_pokemon_company_lays_down_the_law_on_cheaters

It's possible that they could do it for this gen. They could maybe find a way to make checks be server-based, and each time you try to do an online battle, it does a quick scan, looking for irregularities and whatnot. If you miss the check, you can't play. And if you keep missing checks, you're banned temporarily, and if you continue, permanently. Or iuno, that's just my idea~It's a step though, maybe in the gen after this they'll enforce it for normal online.
