maybe in the past there were several people who bought loads of copies preventing others from buying it and they were distributing theese copies at an expesive price outisde of shops?

This has certainly happened before. In my town, every games store was open at midnight for the release and they were all sold out before standard operating hours. Most didnt get new stock for over a week. A handful of smaller locally owned stored bought a few dozen copies to sell at their own store because they knew they'd the only places to get them the next day.

Not to even mention eBay scalpers every time those limited edition 3d's come out.
