Hacking Pokemon Soul Silver Freezes

Ok I have another problem, I am playing Pokemon Soul Silver Japanese rom and it freezes right when the game is about to start. The rom doesn't freeze right away, it freezes up to the point when it shows you a variety of options like Wifi-Settings, Email Settings, Mystery Gift, etc and when I click on the option to start the games, it shows up as a black screen but the music is playing a a very little volume. So how do I fix this? I actually really use the Japanese version of the game because of cheats. When I try to use cheats on the English patched version it doesn't work. So please help me!
