Nope, due to hardware limitations, all the R4 team can do now is release compatibility fixes. So basically what you have now is all you get.

The R4 doesn't have any modifiable internal memry that houses the firmware, the firmware is actually hard cded int the R4 on a chip. What you download from the R4DS site is simply a loader, if you unpack the dat file, its a NDS file. So the R4 is pretty limited in what it can do. If the functionality wasn't originally implemented into the hardware, it can't be added later.

Everyone is wrong then. I don't know of a single flashcart that doesn't work for online multiplayer or local multi-cart multiplayer.

The only thing that some flashcarts have trouble with is single cart multiplayer (download play). The R4 does not have this problem.

I can actually connect both Geometry Wars games together with an M3 Perfect, but I haven't tried for Pokemon Ranch. I wonder.
