Hacking Pokemon/R4 question

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I'm just wondering if you can play the rom over the internet
on the R4, or if I should just go out and buy it before I get far
into the game?

and just for future reference: download play doesnt work on MOST games, but some do (tetris works, but not mario kart for example). however, multiplayer (if you all have the real cart OR flash cart) works 100%.

Yeah, i was never quite sure. The only game i tried to play online was mario kart.
