Arriving to the official collection of retro games available on the Nintendo Switch is the 2005 Game Boy Advance classic Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. This is the latest Nintendo Switch Online addition, and will be made available to Expansion Pack subscribers on August 9th. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, which came out in 2020, is a remake of this game.

the only thing I don't like the remake is you can't go to the island where your pokemon are, it's just a basic wallpaper.
But it's what I would call a perfect remake, same as oras.

Someone knows what's better between this and the remake?
The remake adds new features which make the title way, waaay easier. Most people saying the remake is better didn't actually play the OGs (or didn't manage to go beyond the tutorial).
I played both original titles and the remakes as soon as they all came out, and I prefer the original games every day.

Blue Rescue Team, the DS version of this, is my 2nd favourite PMD game; the Switch remake is just so heavily botched it's not worth playing over BRT.

Why'd they get rid of the A-button attack, in the remake? That was great for finishing off foes after using 1 move against them, and thus saving PP. Plus, instead of incorporating Explorers of Sky's improved IQ system, they tossed it out entirely in favour of "rare qualities", of which a Pokémon can only have one. So much worse, that. They also removed the exploitable Wonder Mail system present in BRT and Explorers, meaning you're stuck with random missions instead of being able to generate your own using an online tool. The number of Pokémon that can be brought into a dungeon was lowered from 4 to 3, as well, between Explorers (and BRT before it) and the remake.
The original spritework and visual design's far more appealing, at least to me, than the 3D models and the crayon-ish art style used in the remake.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon took a nosedive in quality after Explorers of Sky, and Rescue Team DX just continued that collapse. I'd heavily recommend playing the DS games over the 3DS and Switch ones.

I'd quite enjoy a life of taking it easy. But I haven't reached that life yet.
