Gaming Pokemon is Freezing, new to emulation, help please

Yeah so im at the point in the game where you have to investigate the lakes. I just met rowan at verity, and after the first double battle i cannot walk forward at any point, or else the game locks up. music is still playing. Im new to emulation so i dont know what the problem could be. I am using a G6 Real card. I searched a few of the topics already for some advice and it seems i may need to patch. Is there any other reason for this as in a bad rom, or can i just copy the save file to another rom?

Try a new rom. I don't think freezes in pokemon are recorded to happen on the G6DS Real.

eDIT: Yes you can copy the save file to a new rom, just rename them to match

thanks, im going to try that. hopefully i can figure out the renaming system.

ill back up everything just incase.
