don't bother, the ARM7 allows you to save, but still has the freezes, Rudolph's AP Patch doesn't work on the US rom.

I attempted to manually apply the patch on the US ROM, but overlay 122 from (J) is not even existent on (U).

From what people are saying, ARM7 just has to do with saving. The issues with the games isn't the saving, there wouldn't be a point in an ARM7 patch. The AP check in the game is performed at random during certain events within the game. It seems that it'll check at random, if the value is returned that the game isn't on the original cart, it freezes. Someone probably just needs to find that value and freeze it, or heck, just prevent the check from happening at all.

That is because the patch only work on the Japanese rom

hm i don't think so, haven't heard anything about it. And if it comes a patch it will probably make it work for all Flash cards

To everyone posting, there isn't a patch for the USA versions of the games yet. Just wait, I bet by the end of the day, they both will be patched, and probably several flashcart updates will be out for it. You just have to be patient!
