Haven't tried this patch yet, but I'd guess Katakana mode only romanizes the names of the Pokemon. For example, Typhlosion's original name is Bakufun, so in-game you'd see Bakufun. The localized one uses the names with which we're more used, like Typhlosion and so on.

i spotted a problem tho

Bird keepers have an Error

when you enter battle with one its say

there called ???????????yy??????????????????????

and Sailors have not been called sailors, its still Jap

apart from that all is great

i love this patch so much better because its 1 patch and all is done

i like how your names have moved from the Touch here to where gamefreak normally goes

if you want and translations for anything just ask as i speak Jap and Eng

im using YSMenu furmware on it

and have have had no problems at all

im also using the AR cheat

please remember people that the second cheat code is bad as it turns of curtain graphics

Isn't it enough to port the old US Gold/Silver "text files" to the HG/SS rom? 99% of the rom would be translated, and the english would be perfect.

I remember that back when Fire Red was released, FR was basically Pokemon Red for the GBA. Thus, one could have just replaced the Japanese text files with the Pokemon Red english text files, and 99% of it would have been correct.

Of course, I am assuming that the text files have not been altered completely. Is this not the case?

Well, that don't work on my M3 real. T_T

I've patched the rom, the translation work (ex: examine, bag etc...), but when I save the music continue but the save never finish.

EDIT: I notice I got a blue screen with Japanese message the first time I bottom the game, like a corrupted save before the first game. :/

I have the same problem with the blue screen error every time I boot up. I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I have the M3 Lite, with the latest firmware. (Old, I know - is it too old to work?)

^with the exception of the new parts with groudon,kyogre,rayquaza,arceus,etc. there is nothing "new" in terms of the story. It is for the most part ported from Gold and Silver with some of the changes found in crystal, so if you're having trouble just find an old guide. I recommend this one:http://faqs.ign.com/articles/375/375412p1.html - it covers all 3 of the old versions, so it works fairly well.
