You live in a small town in the Johto region called New Bark Town,
you depart on an adventure when you receive one Pokemon from Professor Elm,
the Pokemon researcher who lives in your neighborhood.
Meetings with various different people and Pokemon await you!

Three years ago in Kanto, “Team Rocket,” an oranization that
uses Pokemon for evil, has now resurfaced.
What could they be planning?
You get caught in the mess during your travels,
can you drive Team Rocket away!?

At the beginning of the adventure, strong Pokemon trainers
challenge the awaiting Gym Leaders. Battle the Gym Leaders, who have been
acknowledged by the Pokemon League and collect all of the “Badges” as proof!

Now, aim to be the ultimate Pokemon Trainer, and depart on your adventure in the Johto region!

Three New ‘HeartGold’ and ‘SoulSilver’ Trailers

Three new trailers for HeartGold and SoulSilver are available to people who have Japanese Wii consoles, and someone on YouTube has kindly put them together into one video and uploaded them. The first trailer reveals the cut-shot of Ho-Oh's perch, the Break Block Pokethlon game, Gym Leader Jasmine's sprite, the interior of Violet City Gym, and a double battle against Entei and Raikou. The second trailer features impressive commercial CGI of Lugia, its three Legendary Birds, Ho-Oh, and its three Legendary Beasts. It reveals that headbutt trees return in the two remakes, as an Entei is seen ramming one, and then shows Suicune's previously unseen sprite in a double battle. The final trailer begins with new CGI of the Johto starters and Pichu, then shows a wild Suicune in Kanto. The trailer also reveals that Munchlax, despite being a Diamond and Pearl Pokemon, can be captured on the PokeWalker. You can watch all three trailers in the video below.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo of America Inc. revealed today that Pokémon™ HeartGold Version and Pokémon™ SoulSilver Version for the Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo DSi™ systems will be released in spring 2010 in the United States and Europe. These newest entries for the best-selling video game franchise were announced amid the biggest Pokémon video game event of the year and in front of the top Pokémon video game and trading card game players in the world at the 2009 Pokémon World Championships.

Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version return players to the scenic Johto region first introduced in the beloved original Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games nearly a decade ago. The richly detailed adventure of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver is now enhanced for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems with updated graphics and sound, as well as new touch-screen features and a host of surprises. Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version bring dozens of Pokémon characters back into the limelight for a new Pokémon generation – and longtime fans – to catch, train and battle.

“Announcing these much-anticipated game launches at The Pokémon World Championships allows us to give the news directly to the legions of fans who represent the true heart and soul of Pokémon,” said J.C. Smith, The Pokémon Company International’s director of marketing, who made the announcement on stage to kick off the 2009 Pokémon World Championships. “We want to thank these loyal fans by revealing the details to them first.”

The launch of Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version follows the incredible launch of Pokémon Platinum Version, which has sold more than 5.66 million copies worldwide to date.

Pokémon is one of the top children’s franchises in history. The Pokémon video game series has sold more than 193 million units worldwide since its inception 13 years ago. Additionally, Pokémon is the No. 1 collectible trading card game of all time and has shown no sign of slowing down. It boasts 374 percent sales growth in the United States alone since 2005, and is sold in more than 30 countries across the globe. Other extensions of the property include 12 seasons of the animated television series, which in 2009 will be broadcast in as many as 153 countries in more than 25 languages. Pokémon films and DVDs continue to reach fans in amazing numbers, ranking at the top of the box office in Japan.

Sunday, August 9
Clearer scans of before, more in-depth detail.

The first scan reveals that in regards to the Safari Zone, you can customize its layout and send it to your friends to use, similar to how you can create your own levels in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. From available Pokemon you can change where they will appear; not many details are known about how this will work, however. In the Safari Zone’s entrance, you can use a computer called “Custom Area” to switch around and customize the area’s appearance.

For the Bug-Catching Contest in National Park, it is confirmed that the competitions will only occur on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday like in the original Gold and Silver games. The contest will use “Konpe” Poke Balls, which is probably short for “Compe(tition).”

The top of the second scan introduces a new use for the Apricorns - they can be mixed into drinks that increase your Pokemon’s Pokethlon stats. A new item called the “Apricorn Shaker” pulverizes your Apricorns into the juice. You simply place your Apricorns inside the Apricorn Shaker, walk around a little, and the Apricorns will eventually produce juice for you to feed to your Pokemon. In the scan it shows that Chikorita has gained one star in its Pokethlon speed stat through this method. Additionally, it is revealed that Apricorns can be picked from trees once a day. The scan also reveals the new Ken Sugimori artwork for Poke Ball maker Kurt, who crafts Poke Balls out of Apricorns.

The third scan does not reveal much new information. It states that you can go to Kanto by boat to earn more badges, which of course we already knew. When talking about Johto’s new Battle Frontier, it mentions there is a new “Frontier Front,” though it does not go into details about what it is.

The scan also discusses the Wi-Fi event in which you can unlock the “Yellow Forest” route on the Pokewalker to capture Pikachu, but it still does not reveal the special move some of the Pikachu will know. However, the artwork in the background clearly shows a Pikachu flying with balloons, so perhaps some of the Pikachu will know Fly.

In regards to the Pokethlon events, three new ones are revealed: Break Block, Change Relay, and Push Circle. Break Block seems to involve karate chopping brick blocks, Change Relay is another race but with only one of your Pokemon, and Push Circle seems to be another ring match in which you knock Pokemon out of a ring.

The final scan is obviously discussing Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza in the two games. The trio will fight you at Level 50 each. Their locations are not revealed in the scans, though it appears they reside in caves. The scan reaffirms that Kyogre can only be caught in HeartGold, while Groudon can only be caught in SoulSilver - bringing both together to one of the two games will allow you to encounter Rayquaza.

As hinted in the box showing a battle for the 2010 World Championship’s video game tournament, Pokemon Sunday yesterday confirmed that Legendary Pokemon will be allowed in the tournament: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia and Giratina can be on your team. One of the hosts on Pokemon Sunday stated that he has always had a Kyogre but was never able to use it, which means he caught it in Sapphire. If so, Pokemon Sunday may be implying that players can use the above legendaries from any of your games at next year’s tournament, not just the Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Dialga, etc. caught in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Pokemon Sunday also revealed that the Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina your Arceus creates in the Shinto Ruins will each come with their respective Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous Orbs.

* The first two images show the Apricons and their Pokeballs. The apricorns appear to be kept in a key item container, so this would eliminate the problems with compatibility with DPP since a Pokemon can`t hold key items. This allows the player to grow Apricorns while travelling. (Pokeballs shown: Friend Ball, Heavy Ball, LoveLove Ball, Speed Ball, Level Ball, Moon Ball, and Lure Ball)
* This 3rd image shows the magnet train and SS Anne dockhouse along with Johto Region`s Battle Frontier. The entrance looks like it is in the same place as Crystal`s Battle Tower, which is on route 40.
* The 4th image shows a Wi-Fi double battle with Dialga and Palkia, a 2010 WCS announcement and an encounter with Rayquaza.
* In the 5th image we see the player receiving the Mysterious Egg from Mr. Pokemon.
* The 6th image shows an encounter with a wild Raikou.
* The 7th image simply shows Rayquaza hindering in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
* In the 8th image we see the player receiving the Pokedex from Prof. Oak. Bug Catching Contest.
* The last image shows the entrance to the new Safari Zone, accessed by Cianwood City.

This time, there were no signs that said no video, and I even asked the person watching the demos if I could record them, to which they said yes. Unfortunately while I was recording, they asked the higher-ups if photography was allowed and the answer was no, so I was asked to stop and could not record the PokeDex to see the new sprites.
QUOTE

The first scan was already shown earlier this week, but now we can see Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Entei's sprites. Overworld shots of Ho-Oh in front of the Tin Tower and Lugia in the Whirl Islands are also shown. The scenes will probably precede or follow those 3D shots of Ho-Oh flying around the Tin Tower and Lugia sitting behind the wave of water - the 3D scenes that were revealed a while ago. Both Pokemon are at Level 45.

The second scan shows the Kimono Girls, Red Gyarados, Pokemon Gyms, and more Pokethlon mini-games. It appears that inside of Ilex Forest, you can team up with one of the Kimono Girls to help her find the exit, similar to Cheryl in DPPt's Eterna Forest. The scan states that the Kimono Girl holds a "key" to the story, perhaps meaning that she literally has a key for the player. The screenshot that shows the dance studio the Kimono Girls reside in has a Team Rocket grunt in it, so it seems Team Rocket has some involvement with them... the grunt says, "So, you can't listen to your customer's commands, huh?", yelling at the Kimono Girls. When you encounter the Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage, it will be raining. It's at Level 30.

In addition to the Dash Hurdle and Bound Field mini-games we learned about yesterday, the scan reveals two new Pokethlon games: Ring-Out Fight and Shooting Snow. Shooting Snow seems to involve... shooting snow, while Ring-Out Fight appears to be like the Hitmontop game in Pokemon Stadium 2 where you have to knock Pokemon out of a ring (though we can't confirm that for sure). The Pokethlon comes with five different courses, each based on the speed, power, technique, stamina, and jump stats. Each course is made up of three races.

For the third scan we have PokeGear and PokeWalker information. You can check the Johto map on the PokeGear and it has a radio and phone (not real ones of course). Unlike previous Pokemon games, you can now assign two key items (like a Super Rod and Bicycle) using the DS's Y button and a reserved button on the touch screen. The scan also shows that the Item Finder has been redesigned, which you can see on the middle of the page to the left (the black circle with orange and a dot). You can also use it as you walk - you do not have to stop to use it. The scan also states that when you win a battle, your mom will save up money for you and will sometimes use it to buy items for you.

As for the PokeWalker, you can connect to a friend's PokeWalker using your own. On the bottom of the scan you can see two PokeWalkers connecting to each other, one with a Cyndaquil and the other with a Pikachu. One of the players receives an Oran Berry in doing so, which means that there will probably be ways of obtaining items when connecting with your friend's PokeWalker. Additionally, one of the screenshots shows the PokeWalker's Item Finder discovering a Rare Candy, which may mean it will allow players to obtain rare items. The scan also gives us our first look of a Pokemon getting captured on the PokeWalker - you can see a Poke Ball capturing a Sentret. While battling Sentret, there is a new option - "Dodge." You can choose to dodge your opponent's attacks and then retaliate, just like in the anime. It is also revealed that the PokeWalker will record your daily progress in a journal.

As for the fourth scan, it confirms that the Level 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina you receive from Arceus will be able to learn Metal Burst, Hydro Pump, and Shadow Sneak (respectively). There are screenshots of each Pokemon using their attack.

In the final scan, Notched-Ear Pichu's attacks are confirmed to be Pain Split, Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, and Swagger. It is also stated that it cannot evolve and it cannot be traded out of the two games.

With these new scans posted, we can now say that the Latios, Latias, and Mewtwo factoids posted the other day were most likely fake. There is no indication in the scans of any of those Pokemon being in the games, though if Kanto is included, Mewtwo may be too. Lugia and Ho-Oh having "hidden abilities" was also not in the scans.

Could minor differences in Pokemon sprites like Notched-Ear Pichu and the dodge option be early features of the next generation of games? We'll find out next year most likely!

The first CoroCoro scan has surfaced. It features Entei, Suicune, and Raikou's new Ken Sugimori artwork, in addition to Eusine's. You can see their overworld sprites of the 3 legendary beasts in the Brass Tower screenshot toward the bottom of the scan. New features were revealed and translated as well.
* Eusine returns in a similar fashion during Pokemon Crystal
* Ho-Oh & Lugia are encountered at Level 45
* The Pokemon Gyms have various traps.
* Red Gyarados appears in the Lake of Rage at Level 30.
* Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina each learn moves they could not previously learn - Roar of Time, Hydro Pump, and Shadow Sneak respectively.
* There are 9 mini-games. One of them could be the racing game seen at the early premiere of the Arceus movie.
* Latios, Latias, & Mewtwo are in the games - Unconfirmed

(However, some of the above features were discussed in 2ch. Some may be fake, some may be real.)

Thoughts: Hmm, so Crystal Version elements are going to be shared in these games.

* Gold receives a redesign while a new player character, Soul, replaces Kris.
* The DS's 3D capabilities are utilized in selecting the starter Pokémon.
* The PokéGear has been redesigned. Now, it features two designs, one blue and white for males and another white and pink for females.
* Johto's Pokédex interface has been redesigned
* An image of certain locations, similar to that of FireRed and LeafGreen, appears when entering the location.
* Team Rocket Grunts are designed like they were in FireRed and LeafGreen.
* Elm's Lab has an upstairs level.
* Uses the same Graphics Engine used in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
* All 493 Pokémon are capable of following the player similar to Pikachu in Yellow. CoroCoro showed examples of several examples including Steelix and Wobbuffet. Shininess is apparently retained. More specific details are currently unknown.
* Similarly to the event Shaymin and Regigigas's effect on Platinum, the Pikachu-colored Pichu to be given to those who have pre-ordered tickets to the twelfth movie will unlock an event near the Ilex Forest Shrine featuring the Notched-ear Pichu.
* The Pokémon storage system, bag, party interface and the screen that pops up when pressing the Start or X buttons in the previous games all use the Nintendo DS's touch screen.
* Groudon and Kyogre will appear in SoulSilver and HeartGold, respectively, after the Elite Four, and Rayquaza can be caught in both games once the other members of its trio are brought into the game.
* Cynthia and Arceus are shown together in a new section of the Ruins of Alph named the Shinto Ruins. This event will allow players to obtain either Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina at level 1.

Like the GBA Wireless Adapter that came with FireRed and LeafGreen, HeartGold and SoulSilver will be packaged with a bonus: a Poké Ball-shaped pedometer called the PokéWalker that will link to the games and hold a Pokémon, increasing its experience and happiness as the wearer walks.

Hmmm .... well I hope this will be the last news thread. I'm not putting you down I just mean that as in people stop making new ones. It is getting kinda annoying. All we need is one to use. Oh and I want my Kris back.

The other thread looked a bit messy and seemed as if that was all the poster was going to reveal.

this one will be updated whenever news is released, so yeah. Feel free to add any tidbits you find from deep down the internet lol.

You're right it is the same. But that's the thing I like about this remake. It's about G/S

People revered Gold and Silver being the best Pokemon games. Having this remade, well, I'm pretty hyped. If anything, they're my favorite childhood games.

She isn't canonically involved in the game. She's just tells you about Arceus and if you bring the Movie Premiere Arceus to HG/SS, you can get a Lvl 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina. More info is in the 1st post.

Also, in D/P/P, it is hinted that Cynthia lives in the Johto Region.
