Now there is a AP Fix for Pokemon HG/SS, I can finally release my mods !

So let's get started ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yay.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yay:" border="0" alt="yay.gif" />

First, there is Expert mod.
It makes the game more challenging without becoming too hard.

Features :

Increasing difficulty
(levels have been increased progressively from 2 to over 25 at the end)

Gym Leaders are more powerful and use moves who match their level

Most areas have some trainers tougher than normal (Road Leaders)

Ace trainers are a lot harder to beat so you should avoid them the first time
(they are supposed to be about as strong as the next gym leader)

This is a beta so it's not fully balanced, but you can still try the first Gyms.

And I also made these other mods :

Treecko mod - Replace Rival's Chikorita by Treecko

Evolution mods - Remove trade/special evolutions

No Exclusives mod - Catch almost all pokemon (479 exactly)
- Add safari/pokewalker exclusives in wild(rare)

Deadly Caves mod - Increase wild pokemon level in caves and the chances of encounter powerful pokemon

Starters mods - Replace starters by :
- 1st, 3rd or 4th gen starters
- Eevee, Pikachu and Ralts
- Elekid, Magby and Azurill
- Aron, Larvitar and Trapinch
- Snorunt, Houndour and Cubone

Zoroark/Shadow hack - Replace Togepi by Zorua and Lugia/Ho-oh by their shadow form (for fun)

These mods are INDEPENDENT, works for ALL versions and don't trim your rom so you can use your save (or cheats)

Nice patch there OddShadow!

Now I can't wait until there's a hack where you start in Kanto and travel through to Johto. Maybe with Red as the main character. That'd be pretty sweet.

Do want..

Could you explain the evolution mods? Do you mean that Pokemon that would only evolve through a trade now evolve at a level?

That's right
All is detailed in the "readme".
In fact, I just replaced trade evolutions like that :
Graveler -- Trade --> Golem is now Graveler -- Lv.38 --> Golem
or with a item :
Onix -- Trade + Metal Coat --> Steelix by Onix -- Level up + Metal Coat --> Steelix

And there are two versions of the mod, one with level-up with hold Items and one without.

I have a retail version of Heart Gold. Dumped my .sav from my retail cart with the NDS Backup Plus tool, and I've been playing it on my AK2i. If I needed to restore my save to my retail cart for pokewalker stuff, I should be good, although the retail isn't patched, right?

Thanks for the hard work. Eager to try this out.

Edit:

Tried the "No exclusives" and "Evolution mod". Haven't had a chance to use the exclusives one, but the evolution one works like a charm. I used the "no item" version. My Graveller, Porygon, and Scyther all leveled up at their respective levels (Porygon all the way to Porygon-Z).

Thanks!

EDIT: What about the battle with Red? Did you increase his Pokemon's levels too?

No, none of wilds pokemons have been changed except with No Exclusives obviously.

Well , I will continue to test.
I just beat Whitney rather easily with Gastly's hypnosis (blocks Rollout)

I'm a noob regarding these patches... with these patches applied; can you still like... interact normally with wifi? like it's still considered an SS/HG (U) version?

Just to make sure, this patch will also remove the ap for the R4 right? or is R4 still hopeless for a patch? (I've stopped following the ap progress weeks ago, don't even know if they have released an ap for r4 yet)
