Just finished the Elite 4 with this team:

Typlosion Lv 43 (Swept most of Will and Koga's team)

Flygon Lv 43 (used to be my Shiny Trapinch from Diamond) edit: He was still a Vibrava during the E4 fight, BTW

Kingdra Lv 45 (My MVP, benched for the first 4 trainers because he was saved for Lance, leveled up the most because he killed the 3 Dragonites, though he had to be max revived twice. Draco Meteor saved my ass many times)

Scizor Lv 43 (the Finals MVP lol, the only one left alive at the end, went mano-a-mano against Lance's last Poke left, his Aerodactyl. Survived two attacks from Aerodactyl with 2 FRICKIN' HP left after his Metal Claw MISSED the first time. Finished off Aerodactyl who was weakened by Kingdra before Kingdra fainted)

Ampharos Lv 43 (another invaluable member, paralyzed half of Lance's team using Static, getting revived thrice as he became the paralyzing sacrificial lamb, pun intended, of the team)

The Elite Four were easy for the most part, though had to use a few healing items since they used some too =P Lance was damn tough though, used up a lot of my item stash. Got lucky and beat him the first time though

It was probably my most epic fight ever. Scizor Metal Claw FTW!

I don't play with HM slaves since I like to roleplay a bit, thus the limited movesets for my team =P The challenge made it more fun though

My movesets still has to improve a whole lot though, especially with Espeon.

I used my Trapinch midway, and roleplayed it like my 'real starter', kinda like Gold's Aipom and Red's Poliwhirl from the manga. He's now a bad-ass Shiny Flygon; I really like the way the blue in the Shiny form looks. I'm contemplating replacing Typlosion for the Kanto badges though, and give Magmar (to be evolved to Magmortar) the Fire guy assignment. What do you guys think?

P.S. Also, has anyone figured out how to make good ApriJuice? This seems harder to figure out than making Poffins =P

I probably could go through the cave without the light but its really hard and I get lost a lot...

Just started it up for the first time, and pleasantly surprised by the change of menus. Sadly, the game is still too slow going for me in term of fighting and just moving around in the world.
But I definitely am addicted again, I can just feel it. Hopefully the feeling stays for the rest of the game!
Been ages since I last completed a Pokemon game, I always get tired of it around the 6th badge.

I was instantly hooked because it was one of my childhood games. The remake felt much faster than the actual original Gold/Silver to be honest. Update the cheat database and use the "text goes super fast" "cheat" so it doesn't feel that boring. Buy lots of super repels as its really worth it when you just don't feel like battling anymore. Buy potions and such to heal up instead of going to the pokecentre, unless you're running out of PP. These things will make your gameplay much faster and exciting.

I always turn battle animation off as it accumulates overtime and it takes a big chunk out of the gameplay. Once you get your running shoes an bike, it'll be good.

I just beat Violet City gym and am searching for a fire Pokemon I can catch around the area where I am now (around route 5,6, Dark Cave, Violet City).
Is there any good fire Pokemon here?

I have these 3 Pokemon at the moment:

- Totodile (close to Croconaw, keeping this one for sure)
- Pidgey (lvl 12, nice but I doubt he'll be in my end team)
- Egg (Togepi is coming out of this, right? No keeper for me)

I'm thinking about ending the game with this team:

- Feraligatr
- Lugia
- Gengar (gonna have to cheat to get this one, Haunter has be traded :/)
- Ampharos
- Dragonite
- Either Victreebell or a fire Pokemon. Still doubting a lot for this place.

So if anyone has a suggestion, I prefer NOT to cheat, post it here please.

What I did, since I didn't want to bother with WiFi, was change up all trade evolutions to either level evolutions, or items evolution. For instance, I had Scizor evolve instead of evolve with Metal Coat then trade, to Scizor evolve with Metal Coat at level up at night, and at day (since all item hold evolutions by level up were time-based, i.e. was limited to day or night). In the end I had Scyther have two evolutions, one was item hold level evolution with Metal Coat during the day, and was for the night.

This way, I can have the evolutions I want without sacrificing the use of the item involved. For those PKM without the items, I made them into simple level evolutions.

Of course, this is assuming you have the ROM =P I can't wait to save up enough money for either HG or SS so I can have my own Pokewalker too

As for Fire pokes, I found a Magmar I think in the area before you get to the Cianwood Safari Zone, so that's at around 4 badges I think. I think I also found Growlithes a little earlier, just can't remember where. This is for HG BTW.

you don't neeeed flash it's just helpful. In the original gold version I made it all the way to lugia without flash and I made it to the middle of that mountain(the one in jhoto other than Mt.Silver. I think you get some fighting pokemon for doing it. can't quite remember though).

Ugh this is ridiculous, I have to bring two HM slaves to get through Mt. Silver, which means I'm two Pokemon short when fighting Red. I really don't think I can beat him.

The HM system has always been ridiculous, which is why I never feel bad about giving myself a few mews to HM slave for me, lol. It wouldn't be so bad if most HM moves weren't pretty bad.

Not that it matters much. I cleared original Gold with only my Feraligator. This time i'll probably do it with my Gardevoir and Feraligator. Possibly a third if I really need it, but I don't think I will.

There are some ppl more im europe then just these speaking Dutch, but the games where just released today in Europe so I don´t think there are many who got to the GTS by now and even fewer who started trading there
