The first announcement is a remake of the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games from the GBA and DS, now in 3D. It's called Rescue Team DX. It'll release on March 6, 2020, and will come with a demo available after the Direct.

An expansion pass has been revealed for Pokemon Sword and Shield. This will allow for new adventures, at a cost, in the latest Pokemon games. Instead of saving this content for an updated re-release, the expansion pass will feature the re-addition of many older Pokemon, new costumes, brand new Pokemon, areas, and Gigantamax forms. This content will be split into two pieces: The Isle of Armor, due June 2020, and The Crown Tundra, due Fall 2020. There will be new places within these content packs, and they'll have unique differences between the Sword and Shield versions of the expansion, which are sold separately.

The Isle of Armor focuses on growth, where you'll allowed to challenge a new Pokemon Dojo. Kubfu is a new Pokemon, with its evolution, Urshifu. It has two different styles; it's either fighting/dark or fighting/water. The final evolutions of the starters will get Gigantamax forms, too.

Meanwhile, The Crown Tundra is about exploration. Calyrex is a new legendary Pokemon. There's new Pokemon Dens and older legendaries you can catch underground. There's also new unrevealed battle challenges to take on. More wild areas will be added.

Over 200 older Pokemon will be added back to the game in these expansion updates. Those who don't wish to buy the expansion pass will still be able to get the newly announced Pokemon via link trades, in a free update that'll be coming.

Pokemon Home is launching next month, but no other news is scheduled for it right now.

Galarian Slowpoke and certain Gigantamax forms will be more common, such as Lapras, in an update later today.

Pokemon Sword and Shield's Expansion Pass will each cost $29.99 per game for the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra separately. You can pre-order them now.

If you own both games, you'll need to buy the Expansion Pass for both Sword and Shield seperately. Each game's DLC is $29.99, meaning if you play Sword, and buy its respective Expansion, it'll cost $29.99 to play the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.

Just in case you're not being sarcastic would you mind explaining why the cut-down Dex appealed to you? Was it the idea that it would shake up the competitive meta?

remember last year the interview from masuda he said they will not add any Pokemon to gen 5 in the future,
but seeing the success and money the game makes they want to squeeze more from the players by adding expansions and dlcs.

i started the demo about 5 mins ago. the graphics look much better in terms of the environment and cut seens than the announcement trailer showed.. unfortunately the pokémon have jigged edges in gameplay due to the black outline.

I never really played the DM games for their graphics, I played them because I love the story and because I love playing as the Pokémon.

They could've avoided all these "ooh they're too lazy and could've just get the upscaled animations from Let's Go Pikachu / Y / X / Pokemon Go, so i won't buy this shit"

Based on how they talked about the Dex leading up to the release of SwSh I'm guessing this was at least partially reactionary move, not something that was always in the works.

i didn’t notice any rubber banding nor hiccuping. i can’t comment if it is 30 or 60 fps. i truly don’t ever notice a difference between 30 and 60.

Again. Returning pokemon are added for free in the core game. You can get them traded to you. Just like any previous game.
If you dont want the dlc. You're basically getting (most of) the pokemon back for free.

yeah, you're right. i forgot they said something about it being a firm decision and that not all pokemon are in games will be a trend for future releases.

The extensions are $30 for both.
$60 is if you get them for both shield and sword.

Thats still $30 but the extensions should (most likely) focus entirely on end game content, which is what Sh/Sw truly lack.

Also. Trade is free. Even if you don't have the dlc.

Isn't $30 per area? Still I just read that there is a season pass for $30 so I'll drop that argument even though a single upgraded game would still be cheaper ($60+$30 vs only $60).

You say that trading is free but we don't really know if you'll be able to really use the added pokemon or not, they only said that there will be an update to add them to the game but that might be only so you can fight against someone that has the dlc.
Well, we can wait and hope that you can indeed use the added pokemon.
