how to patch
thanks D3R3LIC7
D3R3LIC7 so what u do to that this is working ? can u write how ? plsssssss

It didn't work at first because I was missing the file 'COMDLG32.OCX'
You can download it HERE.

I then put the file in C:\WINDOWS\system32.

Then, click the Start button followed by Run.

Enter this command:
QUOTE said:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMDLG32.OCX

You should then get a message that the process succeeded.

Now that I did all that, I could actually open the program. It's icon should be a green tree. When you open it, its all in Chinese or gibberish.

Click the top right button and search for the ROM.

Click the bottom left button, and your ROM should be successfully patched.

This file scares me a little bit... Could this be a bricker? this patch seems too good to be true...... im not sure if a patch can brick your ds can it?

I actually remember using a gameshark to similar ends back in the days of pokemon red/blue.

Anyhow Diamond/Pearl much like the other pokemon titles seem to bring rom hackers out of the woodwork, have a read of these sites:
http://www.pipian.com/ierukana/hacking/ds_narc.html
http://pokeguide.filb.de/index.php

With regard to a bricker, technically it is possible but so unlikely it is not funny.

I imagine though the rom has been tweaked and consequently broken, I will take a look to see what was done later.

OK been shopping so now I can take a look, it seems the following files have been altered: data/fielddata/encountdata/d_enc_data.narc
data/fielddata/encountdata/p_enc_data.narc

So first mirror of the tool to save you all messing with rapidshare:
http://www.4shared.com/file/16964302/35e55...ond_493_U_.html
Oh and here is a xdelta version of the patch for those who do not want to run the app (see below for xdelta usage, xdelta is nothing more than a type of patching method like 7zip is a compression method so if one does not work the other will not either.):
http://www.4shared.com/file/16964313/5bf95...pokemon493.html

I am going to look and see if I can figure out what is happening there and how I can abuse it (a hand reared legendary pokemon raised from level 2 is sure to be better than a one caught around level 70) and to see if I can get it more stable (it does not look like an ndstool rebuilt but I still think I could make it cleaner).

For my version you will need xdelta:
Quick XDelta faq I stole from myself:
XDelta download page That version is for windows although it originally was a linux app and I believe there is a mac version around somewhere as well.

The syntax is as follows xdelta patch (patchname) (original file) (output file)

Here is the command line I gave with my NSMB translations:
Code:
rename *.nds NSMB.nds
xdelta patch TRANS2.patch NSMB.nds NSMBfre.nds

With regard to a GUI the NINJA2.0 betas had a kind of frontend (you needed the xdelta app in the same dir) but things are a bit hazy regarding its present state: http://ninja.cinnamonpirate.com/
There is also chuckstudios patcher:

This is very easy to make though. You don't even need a Patch. It's good for lazy people, some guy ( related to COM, the Pokesav Creater ) make a DP Rom editor so you can change base stats, moves, locations, data almost everything of the game :\ Only thing is it's completely in Japanese...

pokesav is also in english.. Also automatically putting pokemon in the pc is diffrent than ctaching them all. Pokesav is for lazy people this is more hard work because you need to catch them.

Nice, thanks OP. There is a similar patch for Pokemon Sapphire that lets you catch all 386 in that version, I don't see why this wouldn't be legit. Looking forward to trying it out. It's much better than using a save editor and increases replayability as you can now catch different pokemon to as you play through the story mode.
