Everything was going well, but now I completely screwed up.

I shouldn't have done this step: https://i.imgur.com/0PlwD99.png

Now my N3DS XL (SysNand 11.6) won't turn on when I put in my sd card.

It'll only turn on without the sd card.

Now every time I put in the sd card (when I'm at the home menu) FBI won't let me install any CIA's.

And all of my CIA's, apps and games (from my sd card) vanish when I close the FBI app.

Is there anyway to fix this ?

I wish I didn't follow the Section VI - CTRNAND Luma3DS guide :(

I should've just skipped to Section VII.

Will formatting my sd card and N3DS XL solve this problem ?

What do you mean when you say it won't turn on? Does it boot to a black screen? Does it turn on and then power off a second later? Does it not turn on at all?

Do not blame the guide. You clearly did something wrong, or there's something wrong with your SD card. Section VI is highly recommended. If you hadn't followed the guide, you wouldn't be able to boot your 3DS at all at this point.

Dude did you even read the thing you screeenshoted? You just need the "boot.firm" file from the Luma 3DS zip folder on the root of your SD card. If it's not there, PUT IT BACK. Your console is fine, chill.

The boot.firm file is still on the sd card (it was never removed).

Now when I try to replace it with the boot.firm from Luma.zip, I receive a window that states that my sd-card is write protected.

Backup the contents of your SD card to your computer, format the SD card, and then put the contents back.
Damn, it still won't let me format it.

This is very strange. I didn't get this problem yesterday when I was install Homebrew and CFW.

You're trying to format your SD card with ExFAT - that won't work. The 3DS needs FAT32. Use this: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

If the card is write-protected, either the slider on its side is down or its damaged (in that case you'd need to replace it).

the slider on the sd card adapter is up, right?

Hi, sorry for replying this late.

I took a good look at my sd card and usb, neither of them have a lock/unlock slide.

Also, my sd (xc) card won't let me format nor copy/paste, it keeps telling it's "write protected"

This is weird, because I didn't get this problem yesterday when I was installing homebrew and cfw.

Worst comes to worst try a new SD card.

Should I copy/paste everything on a new sd card ?

Or start all over again (Section 1) ?

Either is up, or your microsd was bust to begin with. Don't go and bash 3ds.guide, that's the only legit site out there. The problem is with your sd card, ir reader, or adapter, not step VI.

Trust me, I'm not bashing the 3dsguide.

It's my own fault, I think my micro sd card might be the problem or should've just skipped part VI to boot my N3DS XL with the sd card.

If your SD is bust you would never had been able to install any games anyway and you'd have to buy a new one. Better to find out sooner rather than later.

Do not buy SD cards from ebay or Amazon third-party sellers or random online stores, only from online stores you specifically trust or from brick and mortar stores.

Okay, I'll buy a new micro sd card (this time a sd hc card, instead of sd xc) from a store I trust.

Do I have to start all over again (from the beginning) with a new sd card ?
