My friend bought a 360 today.
when he got home he pluged it in and the power brick turned red, so we looked it up and found that the PSU is bad and that a short may cause that.
My question is, is this common, is it easy fix, if so how.
    Please help
    Thanks in advance

Was he told it wasn't working when he bought it? Like was it a "sold as seen" type thing?

Go directly round to his house and kick off with him! I would. All sales are only final if the item is in the condition it was described. Over here we could contact Trading Standards, is there something similar over there?

I'd highly recommend doing that then. Can't help you with getting it fixed sorry, but your mate might be able to get his cash back at least. Was it paid for with paypal? If it was you could open up a dispute.

Nightmare, then he's probably well and truly shafted for getting his cash back. I'd still file a fraud complain on the site tho, you never know.

The 360 is begging your friend to buy a PS3 Slim, just kidding. It sounds like an internal issue that you're going to have to call MS to fix. Keeping in mind that your friend probably just got scammed, he'll have to pay a pretty penny to get it repaired by MS--if they'll even fix it. As for the culprit, unless you have proof you paid in cash--like a receipt--you're pretty much screwed. Since it was cash, the site or whatever your friend used will not be able to do much but put a blemish on his record. This can be fixed by him by doing more good sales or he can just cancel his account.

lesson learned...hopefully. Always test the item out before exchanging cash on a used item.

Do what Golin said. but make sure the warranty seal isn't broken. I'm not sure how much it will cost but I'm guessing 100+ or *WARNING SHOULDN'T BE DONE UNLESS YOU'RE A TOTAL DOUCHE BAG* go with the flow and say he got RROD.
