In March, we got a peek at what the PlayStation's next-gen VR controllers will look like, but details of the VR headset itself has been scant. But those details might have been revealed in an exclusive report from UploadVR. The information from the report however need to be taken with a pinch of salt as the reporter cites only "multiple" and "reliable" sources that corroborate those details. Now that you have your salt shakers ready, let's see what those alleged specs of the next-gen PS VR headset are.

UploadVR's sources mention a resolution of 4000×2040 pixels (2000×2040 per eye), a lens separation adjustment dial and gaze tracking capable of foveated rendering. The latter refers to the headset's ability to output better resolution at the area you are directly looking at while reducing the resolution of the area in your peripheral vision, all this thanks to a built-in eye tracker. The headset will also feature a built-in motor for "developers to give direct haptic feedback".

According to the report, the next-gen headset will feature outward-facing cameras to track the controllers' position, somewhat akin to the system used in Oculus Quest headsets. As for pairing the device to the console, this will be possible through a USB-C connection, making it a wired VR headset.

What do you think of this news? Would you consider to get a next-gen PS VR headset with those specs?

I don't even want to imagine the price of that.

It would be interesting if the PS5 games still supported the old PSVR and whoever wanted something more modern or with much better quality would have the option of using the new PSVR model that came here, but I really doubt Sony would do anything like that considering they don't even want DualShock 4 they made it compatible with PS5 games. (except via PS Remote, which still doesn't make any sense to me to this day)

My biggest issue with the current PSVR is the amount of cables and hassle setting it up. It sounds like the next gen version will be no different.

I feel like this could be the case, I also feel like they should release a patch for the PS5 to address the DS4, they should work in any and all games that don’t make use of any of the new controllers features. And that’s it, it’d be restrictive, but less then it is now.

Higher FPS with wires makes up for a better experience than a wireless with lower FPS.

I also feel that this is the case because Sony is still marketing the current PSVR model with the PS5:

It would make sense if the current model was compatible with future PS5 games compatible with the PSVR, but anyone who wanted something more modern and with a much better quality could simply buy the new model, but it's Sony we're talking about, not knowing what she’s going to plan.

As for DualShock 4 being compatible with PS5, I hope this will happen in the future, it is very strange that I can use DualShock 4 with PS5 games if I use PS Remote Play (I can even play PS5 games on PS4 through PS Remote Play or Share-Play does not even need to have a PS5 and using DualShock 4 without problems) but you can't use DualShock 4 directly on PS5 or DualSense on PS4, it doesn't make any sense.

Where did you hear this crock about Wireless VR offering lower FPS? The Quest 2 now supports 120fps with Virtual Desktop and runs pretty damn great.

As far as the new PSVR? Hopefully the found a way to give us a single cable that won't weigh us down and get in the way.. Since they've decided to stick with a wire.

I am Brazilian and I speak Portuguese, some moments I use Google Translate to make sure that what I speak will translate correctly, as here in Portuguese there is no neutral pronoun he ends up translating for him/he or her/she.

Because Quest is basically a Android smartphone on your face, every processing power is on itself. It is good because it is more straightforward, doesnt need another expensive device for it to work, you just buy the content for your headset and can use it directly... but it is severely limited on power. You can use the Quest on PC, but you still have to use wires.

I think you missed what he said, you can use quest 2 with a pc without wires. https://www.oculus.com/blog/introdu...dates-support-for-120-hz-on-quest-2-and-more/

I think its still in beta, but people are able to opt in now.
