According to the Game Critics Awards Sony’s successor to the PlayStation Portable proved to be more popular with journalists than Nintendo’s Wii U console. The PlayStation Vita managed to obtain the award for best hardware at the E3 2011, whilst the Wii U went away empty-handed. The Game Critics Awards were voted on by more than 25 members of the media. Does anyone think they may have made the wrong decision?[/p]

No, I don't. The Wii U was very under explained and therefore lost. I also think that I'll be getting a PS Vita instead of the Wii U. At least until Smash Bros and Zelda HD arrive.

If Nintendo had explained the Wii U properly, it would have picked up award.
As for media attention, really? I have seen far more articles on the Wii U than the PS Vita

TBH at some moment I thought the Wii U was an add-on.
So yes, I agree with above, it was very under explained.
They should have shown the console first then the controller.

    not surprising

the way they showed wii u was pretty much confusing for everyone
they stole gameplay footage from titles running on the 360 and ps3

Yup. They had media attention but what info had to be revealed to get this awnard was not sufficient.

Lame, both are undeserving for this, PS Vita is ok, not that much hype around it anyways and the Wii U is no different, had they elaborated properly about what exactly IS the Wii U then it would've won this useless award.

I'm not at all surprised. The Wii U was under-explained, and the PSV looks pretty awesome as well.

Yeah not surprising, we don't know much thing about Wii U, and PSVita will be released this year.

Why is everyone repeating the same thing. If you agree, please add a +1.

So we don't have everyone multi-quoting one person. We can post whatever we're thinking about the article, even if others have before.

If they have a category called best Innovation the Wii U should have won. It's understandable that they lose in best hardware. Things weren't explained that clearly and the console itself was almost never shown/detailed.

It isn't that innovating. I would place the Vita and the Wii U on the same level for overall innovation when compared to their current gen counterparts. They basically added a controller with a screen and said it could be a second television for the system. There ya go, the Wii U at E3. The Vita just upgraded the hardware and added a bunch of stuff existent in phones and the 3DS already. Oh yeah, and that wonderful second analog stick.

Not a whole lot of innovation on either side.

Well journalists aren't going to be the ones that the sales rely on. It will be the gamers.

Unsurprising. There wasn't a lot of info given on the WiiU, the presentation was confusing etc. The PSVita has a lot more to show at this point so in terms of E3 showing the PSVita definitely won out.

Yes the only reason Nintendo could possibly loose at E3 is if they don't present it right...
