George Cacioppo, Sony's Senior Vice President of the PlayStation Network since 2013, has been fired after allegedly being featured in a video by the vigilante, pedophile sting operation group People v. Preds. A member of the channel had been posing as a 15-year old on grindr and received nude photos from "Jeff", alleged to be Cacioppo by the group, and arranged to meet for sex. In the video, a member of the group approaches a home and addresses the man standing in the doorway, wearing a PS5 t-shirt, as Jeff, and admonishes him for arranging to meet up with an underage person for sex. "Jeff" quickly closes the door and refuses to engage, even as the man threatens to phone the police.

In the description for the video, there is a Google Drive link to screenshots of the alleged chat logs between "Jeff" and the operators of the People v. Preds account. The screenshots show two different conversations, one on October 10, 2021, which did not result in a meetup, and one on December 3, 2021, the day the video was posted and appears to end with them arranging a meetup. In the chat logs, "Jeff" exchanges many pictures with the minor, and in one selfie is seen wearing the same PS5 t-shirt as in the video. He is also aware he is speaking to a minor and provides his address so they can meet up.

In a statement to Cnet, a Sony spokesperson confirmed that Cacioppo had been fired. "We are aware of the situation and the employee in question has been terminated from employment," reads the statement sent to Cnet. Also, in a correspondence with Kotaku, the People v. Preds account claims they released this information publicly rather than simply handing it over to police because "the police department doesn’t work with ‘Cyber groups’ like us. That’s when the internet takes over.” However, since then, the "evidence has been turned into the authorities." There is no news yet of legal action being taken as a result of the sting.

If you look at the rest of my post, I clearly outlined 2 solutions that have shown effectiveness into reducing pedophilic tendencies. I'm sure there's more.
I'm not against charging pedophiles who act on their sick desire with a crime, and sending them to jail, (although it would be cool if the prison system focused on rehabilitation too) but pedophiles probably don't try to seek help before they abuse a child because their condition is stigmatized to the point where people like you advocate for their death.
We should always try to help people, because that's what humans do. If we follow your line of reasoning and kill them because of their mental illness, something they can't control, that's not too far off from straight up eugenics.

Your conflation of 'woke' with Sony's censorship of whatever is unfortunate.

If Sony were 'woke' they'd be enlightened to systems of discrimination, how they function and to what benefit.

However, since Sony are a tech giant and significant corporate power rather an individual who's learned a few things outside of school textbooks and wants to help build a better world, they are fundamentally incapable of doing anything outside of the pursuit of profit.

When I read / hear someone use the term woke in a sneering, derogatory manner it usually signifies that they either don't know what the term means and / or that they're opposed to the idea of societal progress (if you count dismantling systems of oppression as societal progress).

As far as this Sony executive being caught attempting to abuse / elicit sex from a 15 year old, Sony seems to acted wisely in their corporate interest to publicly distance themselves from him.

What I find interesting though is why this story is made public as I have no doubt people with similar interests exist in pretty much all high level executive branches in tech (and other industries).

Something about having access to huge wealth seems to lend itself naturally to abusing those without power. Depravity comes with the territory.
