George Cacioppo, Sony's Senior Vice President of the PlayStation Network since 2013, has been fired after allegedly being featured in a video by the vigilante, pedophile sting operation group People v. Preds. A member of the channel had been posing as a 15-year old on grindr and received nude photos from "Jeff", alleged to be Cacioppo by the group, and arranged to meet for sex. In the video, a member of the group approaches a home and addresses the man standing in the doorway, wearing a PS5 t-shirt, as Jeff, and admonishes him for arranging to meet up with an underage person for sex. "Jeff" quickly closes the door and refuses to engage, even as the man threatens to phone the police.

In the description for the video, there is a Google Drive link to screenshots of the alleged chat logs between "Jeff" and the operators of the People v. Preds account. The screenshots show two different conversations, one on October 10, 2021, which did not result in a meetup, and one on December 3, 2021, the day the video was posted and appears to end with them arranging a meetup. In the chat logs, "Jeff" exchanges many pictures with the minor, and in one selfie is seen wearing the same PS5 t-shirt as in the video. He is also aware he is speaking to a minor and provides his address so they can meet up.

In a statement to Cnet, a Sony spokesperson confirmed that Cacioppo had been fired. "We are aware of the situation and the employee in question has been terminated from employment," reads the statement sent to Cnet. Also, in a correspondence with Kotaku, the People v. Preds account claims they released this information publicly rather than simply handing it over to police because "the police department doesn’t work with ‘Cyber groups’ like us. That’s when the internet takes over.” However, since then, the "evidence has been turned into the authorities." There is no news yet of legal action being taken as a result of the sting.

He has already been punished to an extent. Publicly shamed and fired. Ostracizement is painful. Even without any criminal charges he might be denied entry to foreign countries. Members of the public will track his movements until he dies.

It is so unfortunate that there are so many sexual predators/discrimination in gaming. It's already an area with an enormous amount of stress for people working in the industry. The employees are not always paid enough for the work they do, and not to mention overworking, followed by exhaustion.

My only hope is that all these people are found out, fired and prosecuted. I'm sure this has been always the case, and only now more voices are being raised (which is a good thing).

I am happy to see when ever one of these people get caught. That said, I think we need a separate containment system for child molesters as it is not uncommon for them to get the royal hell beat of of them if not brutally murdered when they attend a regular prison...

That said, we will not see the people involved in the Epstein case become exploited. No Hollywood stars, no politicians, no business men, media faces, judges, bankers, clergy men, etc. unless of course they them selves have upset someone or rather a group within the "elite", in which case they become the fall guy.

Likewise, we will not see a return to more sensible days when temptations like crass sexuality, theft, violence, etc. were not honored and praised upon the TV and Theater screens nor braodcast on the radio 25 hours a day. This effects the adult populous and does not serve our health nor sanity, and it most especially effects children, hence the sudden and massive surge/trend of gender dysphoria cases or cases where children are becoming sexual (groomed) way before puberty has began. We feed into the very powers that make these realities true and wide spread and we have only our selves to blame.
