PlayStation 5’s UI revealed in official video

Capture.PNG
Just a month away from launching, PlayStation finally revealed to us a first look at the PS5 user experience in a new video uploaded to the official PlayStation YouTube channel.

The video highlights features like the new control center; activities that are displayed via on-screen cards; picture-in-picture mode; how joining (or declining) parties will look like going forward; a PlayStation Store that is integrated in the console as opposed to a standalone application; and more.

Watch the full video below and then let us know in the comments what features you're most excited (or weary) about.

Look almost similar to PS4 UI designs, but little different changed.

I not sure if PS5 support DVD disc for movies. I don't want Sony to kill DVD support off.

Sony email me yesterday:

Important Changes to PlayStation Store
Our brand-new PlayStation™Store launches on web and mobile from 21 – 26 October 2020, and we are making some changes to the content you can access on PS Store via your desktop and mobile devices.

What is changing? The following changes will come into effect online from 21 – 26 October, and on mobile on 28 October:

• You will no longer be able to buy:
o PlayStation®3 games and add-ons
o PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) games and add-ons
o PlayStation®Vita games and add-ons
o Apps
o Themes
o Avatars

• The Wishlist feature will be discontinued and any items currently on “Your Wishlist” will be removed.

What does this mean for you?

The content listed above will no longer be available to buy on PS Store when accessed via a desktop or mobile device. However, you will still be able to buy PS3™, PSP or PS Vita content by accessing PS Store directly from your PS3, PSP or PS Vita. PlayStation®4 apps, themes and avatars can also be downloaded via PS Store on your PS4™ console.

What about the content you already own?

You will still be able to access all your previously purchased PS3, PSP or PS Vita content as before. Your existing PS4 apps, themes and avatars will remain on your PS4 console.

I know there will be people who will say '' Who plays PS3, PSP and PSVita today? ''

But I'm really sad about this news, here in Brazil the PS3 is still a very popular console because it is extremely cheap nowadays, but his PStore is just horrible, many people like me would prefer to go to the PStore website to buy something from to buy directly from the console.

I can't say much about PSP and PSVita because I didn't have these consoles, but as far as I know the PStore on PSP doesn't work anymore.

To cluttered for my taste. Everything except game is to much. As for clean UI i think companies today compeete who will have the most borring UI ever not the most interesting one. We are all becoming Japanese slowly....

The Japanese are cool though, I'm okay with this. I agree about it being too cluttered. Hopefully you can customise the 'cards' and take some away.

While it isn't terrible, can we just go back to the tried-and-true XMB of the PS3/PSP/Retroarch? It's literally perfect.
3ds/wii/wii u grid based menus were better
xmb has too much scrolling for me especially on retroarch

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also the hint system is really cool but why the fuck did it have to be locked behind psplus
this is basic shit i shouldnt have to pay 60 a year for hints

finally someone who i can agree. I hate "bidimensional scrolling" like the PS3, PS4 and Switch. If you have a slightly bigger library , it turns to be massively inconvenient and that is why they add "folders". If I have more than 10 games on Switch and PS4, if I need to access a game I didnt use in some time, I have to scroll all the way to the end of the list to access the "Full Library" option (the PS3 was worse because it even didnt had this in the first place, so all games were accessible through a vertical list instead of the 10 most recent). The Xbox One interface has its share of issues, but I think they nailed the access of the library. You have the 7 most recent games and apps on the homescreen but if you need to access an older game or app, just press Down on the controller to access the full library, you can use the Search bar pressing Y or even, if you like to talk to your electronics like I dont, you can use Google Assistant or Alexa to launch a game.

I like the switch interface the most. I actually use ozone for the nes, snes, genesis, and psx minis/classic. there's not too much scrolling then. iirc, you can assign favorites as well if your select games through retroarch, which is what I use on the psx classic. the other minis I use the normal interface, which loads the game into retroarch. the one bad thing is that you can't shut off the system while in retroarch, you have to exit retroarch, which I've assigned to the reset button, then power off.

retroarch is kinda better than the actual switch interface because you can assign favorites AND you can use the search pressing Triangle, which is very similar to how I mentioned you can run a game on the Xbox One. If the search bar wasnt good in both, I woudnt recommend, but on the Switch, the pain of having to scroll all the way to the end to play or run an app that it is not on your most recent is there.

I don't mind the horizontal scrolling with games much, but I do have a lot of games on my switch (123). I like the system settings interface. it may be due to the switch having fewer options than say the ps3 or 4, but I always found the way sony organizes things to be clunky and confusing. there have been a few times where I had to google where a specific option was on the ps4.
