my wii u has homebrew and i have the latest firmware too, can i still play original games online(not the loadiine ones)? for some reason i cant update them when they launch, also, is updating a game harmful to the homebrew?

Do you block any urls or use a service like tubehax? Homebrew doesn't affect your original games so unless you messed around with your vWii or block stuff, game updates should work.
