Gaming Playing Japanese games on US DS?

Is it possible to play Japanese games or any import game in general with a US DS using the R4?

I'm just wondering because I don't want to brick my ds.

    If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction
