Playing Dvd On A Wii

    my mate told me i can play dvd movies so i googled it and downloaded what was needed to play them

    but i seen some people saying it can brake ir damage or wear out the laser is this true ?

    as it world be cool to use my wii as a dvd player as i do not play games on it much and i do watch a lot of dvds

    and is there anyway to play videos of a usb device ?

    i am kinda new to wii

    Yeah it can hurt your dvd lazer but it takes a while to do so.

    The best way is too grab a copy of wiimc that way you can play avi's over a network share or a usb device if you have one handy.

    When I go stay over my mums house I take my external 1.5tb drive with me, plug it straight into her wii and can watch all my media via the wii on the big 50" tv

    Just be aware the wii cant handle HD content for shit, it also doesnt like films above a certain resolution

    It stresses it out. Normal Wii disks aren't quite DVDs, they're a Nintendo Proprietry format.

    But if you only want to watch one or two it's fine.
